BronyCon 2019 Reflections Part 1: Wednesday and Thursday · 3:06am Sep 21st, 2019
So, once again I have decided to write down my memories of BronyCon, this time it’s for BronyCon 2019, the last BronyCon.
Wednesday
Like I did last year, I took the bus into NYC and took Amtrak down to Baltimore. I met up with a brony from the BronyCon forums at Penn station and we sat next to each other on the train. It was nice to have someone to talk to on the train ride down to Baltimore. When we got to Baltimore Penn station, we went our separate ways. Since the light rail was closed between North Avenue and Camden Yards, I rode the Charm City Circulator instead. I got off at the corner of Light and Pratt streets and walked down to the Hilton. After I checked into my room I dropped off my luggage in the room and proceeded to the Convention Center to wait in an incredibly long line to pick up my badge. After almost three hours I finally got my badge. Unfortunately by this time most of the food places were closed, so I had to order room service at my hotel. This was the first time I had ever ordered room service in my life. I ordered a burger and fries, which were pretty good. I went to bed around midnight after I finished eating.
Thursday
The first day of the Con. I walked to a Dunkin’ Donuts on light street for breakfast. After I got my order, I walked down to inner harbor and explored the Harborplace mall for a bit. A lot of empty storefronts, at least in the building I was in (Pratt St Building). I still had some time to kill, so I decided to go to the aquarium. I hadn’t been there in years and it was cool to see the sharks and the dolphins. I bought a Baltimore t-shirt from the gift shop on my way out and then had lunch at Jimmy John’s. I had my usual #13, which was great as always. After that, I went back to my room a bit to plan my day and ultimately decided that my first panel would be Art, Audio, and Animatics: Fan Media in Motion. It was a good panel. Lot of good recommendations for things like which mic to use and which software to download. After that I got in line for Opening Ceremonies. They did another skit with the mascots, continuing the storyline from last year. Poor Mane Event. Opening Ceremonies got me pumped like I usual, but the knowledge that this was the last BronyCon was still on my mind.
I had dinner at Chipotle. Massive LineCon there too. After that, I attended my next panel “A Series of Equestrian Events.” It was pretty interesting to see the timeline for the show that the panelists came up with. They even managed to estimate Rainbow Dash’s current age, which according to them is 27. After that panel, I went to bed.
