September 3, 2018 was the premiere date of Come Along with Me, lasting for 44 minutes. One of the best swan songs in TV history, the finale introduced us to 2 new characters, Shermy and Beth, who are from a thousand years in the future. The King of Ooo turned out to be BMO, who told them the story of the Great Gum War. Aside from the return of Simon Petrikov to his normal state, the deaths of Maja the Sky Witch and Fern, and the sacrifice of Betty Grof to save Ooo, the biggest revelation was the long-awaited confirmation of the relationship of Princess Bubblegum and Marceline the Vampire Queen. Really behind myself, stopped late in season 5 from loss of interest. It does look like there's some great stuff later on, such as a review I saw on Staked, the episodes focused on Marceline.

Since Rebecca Sugar left to work on Steven Universe, the show went on a noticeably different route as it was more on randomness, backstories, worldbuilding, and background characters as main characters for certain episodes.
