Dusk Guard Q&A! · 4:41pm Sep 18th, 2019

Hey folks!

So, let's talk some Dusk Guard stuff. There's the bit in the title, naturally, which I'll get to a moment. But there's also something else I wanted to share with you guys. Someone has taken to updating the Dusk Guard Saga TV Tropes pages!

There have only been a few pages so far, but sands, it's better than nothing. The TV Tropes pages sort of slipped off the radar about half-way through Beyond the Borderlands (right around the time all the action ramped up to insane levels and a particular character bit the dust). Since then, it's languished. I don't know if most of it was the work of a really dedicated fan and they've since left the fandom or what, but the TV Tropes pages sat untouched for several years (I know because every so often I'd take a look, and they have a page that says if anyone's made changes), to the degree that a few stories aren't even on there.

Well, that's changed lately. Not by a lot, but a few people have gone through and started to update thing. Hunter/Hunted is mentioned now, though it only has one trope as of yet, and a few of the other tropes and entries have been updated a little.

So hey, if you're a troper who likes troping, the Dusk Guard pages are slowly coming to life once more!

Now then, on to that other bit of news. That's right, the one in the title.

It's been a LONG time since I've done a Dusk Guard Q&A. But the other night, while I was recovering from my flu, it occurred to me I've been working like mad so much lately I've kind of forgotten to just have fun with things (another casualty of editing two massive epics one after another, ugh).

So, well ... time to do something fun! A Dusk Guard Q&A!

Those of you who have come before, you know how these work. Those of you who don't? Pretty simple. Post a question in comments. About The Dusk Guard Saga. Not a string, but maybe two (I have limits). I will, to the best of my non-spoiler giving abilities, answer it in a follow-up post later this week.

Oh wait, but there's a twist this time. There are seven character questions up for grabs. What are those, you may ask? They are first-come, first-served chances to ask any character that has appeared in the series to date a question. Limit one-character question per poster, first-come, first served. Once those seven slots are full, no more character questions will be answered.

But the seven that are? They'll be answered by that character as best as they are able.

All right, that's it. I've got a part-time shift to get to so get thinking on those questions!

Inspired by the trauma first aid course I did recently:

Dawn is an exceptional medic and all, but what's the plan if she's the casualty? Or is she's significantly separated from the caualty (like right now with Hunter's team)?

Said differently:
Nobody else has had any on-screen medical training, so does that mean that they don't have any, or that it just wasn't worth spending words on?

To Sky Bolt: Have you ever seen Sabra do something cool and thought, "I need to make a mod that does that"?

Alternatively, where do you get the ideas for your mods?

You talking about burying yourself in editing work made me curious:
When was the last time you took a vacation from writing? I mean one where you didn't work any other jobs either.
And is that even something you'd want to do? Not thinking about your stories for a week or two?

Is Chrysalis the changeling Immortal?

I have to admit I like this WAY better than the implication from cannon that Sombra just came back really weak and everything was rainbows and butterflies in the Crystal Empire. It's way more believable that a team of seasoned veterans knocked him down a few pegs and kept him from taking control again. And truthfully, WAY more entertaining. :raritywink:
So the question - Sabra has a lot of inner turmoil going on, that he is mostly just (barely) keeping in check. Good on him for it, but is he going to be able to 'unravel that knot' and use that energy for his growth at some point? Sorry - not really asking for a spoiler, just looking to know if he has to just live with it, or if it will resolve and bring him strength and experience eventually.

I'm curious how much of your planned outline (if you had one) made it to published work?
