Winter Update for Sunset of Battle

Going to be a short update.

Chapters 15 and 16 are in the final editing phases now. I'm waiting to publish anything however until after chapters 17 and 18 are done so I have the latitude to tweak 15 and 16 as needed. Once the current story arc is finished I'll start posting the chapters on a weekly basis.

    That is all...

    Like I said; short update.

    XD

    A minor alteration...

I made a minor edit to the most recent chapter. There were two little words that had become a massive pain in my arse working on the next chapter. They were, 'to her'. :twilightangry2: It was leading to rabbit holes of character arguments that spiraled into hellish domains where finding a feasible 'out' for Sunset grew dire indeed. After several attempts I've decided to just rip out the root

Nearing the end of Schola Arc, and future planning.

So, as I begin to near the final rise in action for the schola arc of Sunset of Battle I'm looking more and more ahead to what I want to do with the story and where to go next. My general plan is to do a time-skip to when they are novitiates and start the next arc in-media res. But what to do and who to have as the antagonists?

Please help, I'm broke... · 5:07pm Sep 14th, 2019

I really don't know how to start this blog off, so I'll just try to jump straight into it; I'm broke and terrified of asking for donations.

I'd rather avoid going into events and so I'm just going to get as quickly as I can to brass tacks. If you've enjoyed any of my stories and would like to give a dollar or two, I'd be extremely grateful. Due to my anxiety I never set up a patreon account, and to say my subscribestar account is a tire-fire of despair would be underselling things. Last I checked, it still didn't work... To the very nice person who insisted I make it during your attempt to give me money, I'm sorry. I R tech illiterate. :raritywink:

Patreon is 'Under Review' atm.
Subscribestar is also 'Under Review'.

This is how you can tell I am ancient and set in my ways. I still use hotmail... An account I set up twenty(!) years ago...

Thank you, everyone, who has taken time to comment on my stories over the years, or even just silently read and left a thumbs up.

Edit 1: Thank you everyone for your advice, suggestions, and donations. I'm a whirl with emotions. I'm trying hard to get something special out asap as a thank you. I also changed the blog title as I felt the old one was a little too cheeky and it was giving me more anxiety. My brother had suggested it, and it was more suitable to him than me.

Edit 2: added a ko-fi link. Am also working on getting Patreon and Subscribestar working. Both are under review at the moment. Ko-fi looks like it is up and running.

We still love your story even with your money problem right now. I hope good people donate some money to you.

You might want to look at setting up a Ko-fi instead of relying on PayPal. I know I'm more willing to donate through them instead of directly.

Never heard of Ko-fi. I'll think on it. Out of curiosity, is there a reason it is better than directly?

Thank you. I'm really happy people have enjoyed and loved my scrawled writing.

Ko-fi lets donators stay anonymous, and you can just point donators at a simple link that tells them exactly what they're doing instead of relying on a PayPal email. And Ko-fi will send the money directly to your PayPal account.

i will advise you to open up a patreon account, run one for another writer as he too had some problems with doing it by his own, not as hard as it sounds at it gives your readers a nice an easy way to support creators like you.

Oh! That sounds rather useful. Thank you for the head's up and link!

I've thought about Patreon in the past. I always convinced myself that it was a bad idea as I couldn't 'do' anything for patrons. Or, rather, I couldn't come up with any rewards that I knew I'd be able to keep. Closest I came was years ago when several other writers opened patreon's for support, but I didn't feel I was deserving.

It is the same reason why I haven't tried to 'fix' or get the subscribestar account working properly.

Just seeing the donations I've gotten this morning has really filled me with conflicting emotions. So much joy, but also doubt. Worry and fear that I wont be able to live up to expectations. And more. It is a whirl of conflicting thoughts and emotions, and so I'm trying to put together a little thank-you story for everyone. Dang it, now I'm crying again. Sorry, I'm in a stream of thought mode atm.

well, i'll be the emotionless bastard that i am and work you thru it based on logic and 0 emotion... sounds bad but i've been doing "coaching" like this for people for some time.

you don't have to "give" anything to your patreons, the idea is that they want to express the support for your work. with over 900 followers even if just half of them give you just 1$ a month that is some money flow that can help you. and you? you just keep doing what you do for them, write... words have value for other people, that is why i support other creators, i like their work.

in the end of it all you have go with the simple idea, it's better to try and fail then not to try at all, with the fact this blog post was made i get the idea you ran to a low point in life, from here the only way is up.

while it won't solve all of your problems a patreon can help you get by

Thank you for the tough love. All this and other suggestions has helped spur me on. I just finished setting up a Ko-fi account (that was surprisingly easy). Next up will be Patreon, which I do (did?) have an old account on that I was going to use to support other people way back when. It just fell through as I've never really had the money to support other people. Always made me feel a little guilty.

Thanks to your advice I've set up a Ko-fi account. https://ko-fi.com/tundara

Thank you.

You don't really need to do anything special for Patreons. As long as you make it clear that you will not be doing anything out of the ordinary in return for donations of a certain level, it's understood that donators are doing so just to support the person and aren't expecting anything more than what they're already doing. It's only Patreons that have actual reward tiers that are obligated to return the favor, as those types of Patreons often have bigger and more common donations.

That makes sense. About the only thing I could really come up with was giving access a week in advance to chapters/stories, and maybe putting up all the old artwork I've commissioned for Myths.

That's a good option.
Might suggest OC integration for when you need a new character and don't have someone in mind
