Writing Updates (+ TEK) · 9:29pm Sep 12th, 2019
Just a quick writing update!
The non TEK part of this is just to let you all know that work has been HELL, which has severely killed my writing time, but I'm trying my best to catch up. The good news is I recently got my two years review, and my boss is really happy with me! Yay!
Anyway, my two current focus projects are going to be TEK and Crimson. Crimson is literally two chapters away from finishing (or, at least, finishing the main story arc; I can either finish it there and leave some plotlines hanging, or I could keep going and explore the universe more).
TEK is going to go through some changes this week, most notably I'm axing Act 2, and by that I mean that everything that is currently labeled Act 2 will be labeled as Act 1. TEK itself will still be three Acts, and I'm pretty confident Act 1 is absolutely the longest one. Act 2 should be 12-14 chapters, and Act 3 should be around the same amount as well.
As a reminder, because I know some people have asked, TEK is the last book of the series.
The second big change is Seeking Night. Originally, we were gonna have another chapter before it, but I decided that was lame, so the Seeking Night chapter is the next one, which means that Hollow Shade's final arc, codename Nightmare Night will start.
Chapter 15 will go live next week, so goddamn help me, after which I'm gonna go into SERIOUS CRUNCH because chapters 16-18 have to be posted literally within days of each other, for your benefit and mine. This arc is gonna be almost on Curse Arc levels of intense, and I remember the consequences of not updating quickly when I subjected y'all to the curse arc.
I know I keep hyping this up, and I wish I didn't write so slow, but I'm hella hyped for what's coming next. A lot of things will hopefully be paying off, stuff I've set up in TEK and stuff I've set up all the way since Chapter 9 of TEL, so I'm nervouscited for the future and hopefully y'all will like them. These next few chapters are gonna be as Monochromatic as you can get--with all that this implies.
For those still hyped, the wait is nearly over.

Crimson's that close? Well I guess the cat's out of the bag there, but it didn't really seem to be wrapping up. And Curse Arc....I actually don't remember what that was. Was that Rarity being unable to find Twilight's library? Also...lemme just take a peek at Chapter 9 see if anything sticks out. Any particular reason Act II is being merged with Act I?

Re: Crimson, it literally depends on how I handle a single plot thread. So, it's not designed to feel like the ending is here, but if I wanted to, I could give it a nice, somewhat loose-ended finale and it would work. However, I don't want to, and I don't think I will end it, but I'm definitely putting it on a small hiatus once the current arc is done.
And yes! That entire spectacle is the Curse Arc, more specifically for me, chapters 27 to 29.
The merging of Act 1 and 2 is literally because I was stupid and anxious. I'd always envisioned the end of the acts in very specific ways, and halfway through Act 1 I was like, WHAT IF PEOPLE ARE BORED AND THINK NOTHING IS PROGRESSING AND STUFF so for??? some reason??? I thought ending the act prematurely would help??? and I guess it didn't hinder it, but it did fuck up my internal planning of the story so I decided to merge them if only for the sake of my inner planning.
Nothing consequential for the story, it's just literally for my own sake.

So I reread chapter 9 of TEL and I have... theorys!
Spoilers by the ways. If you aren’t caught up with the series don’t read.
So to begin, throughout TEK we have seen Rarity be tight lipped about some of her feeling, as well as her dreams. Now referring back to chapter 9 of TEL, we see that Rarity, is... slightly, maybe... just a little irritated, that Twilight still hasn’t opened up to her about some of her past. I like really do like the character dynamics, but I’m realizing this might lead Twilight to take, how to say this... drastic measures?.
Taking all this into account, we also see that Twilight severely wants to help rarity out with her nightmares, to the point where she has to really restrain herself from going into them.
I also think that Rarity’s nightmares might be tied back to, when she first realized the spirit was after her for certain. In that scene, Rarity sees that a dark version of her self destroying Twilight’s cutie mark, and by extension Twilight herself. I think that that rarity is having nightmares about this and absolutely does not want twilight seeing them.
Soo... let’s say that Twilight
finally can’t take it anymore and decides to go into rarity’s dreams? Well obviously there’s gonna be some drama, possibly rarity leaving and going off on her own and... I don’t know, maybe meeting a certain character that’s recently returned to Equestria and has been with Rarity for a bit now. Hmm, well that’s just my thoughts on the matter, tell me what you think.
