Highlights from BronyCon 2019: Introduction · 8:03pm Sep 8th, 2019
BronyCon 2019…not just my second BronyCon, but the final BronyCon. I had been looking forward to coming to this convention since that fateful announcement at BronyCon 2018 that this would indeed be the final one. And it took quite a bit of sacrifices to actually get there, as a job loss and a lawsuit did my wallet no favors.
I came in expecting the best party ever, and even though it wasn’t oh-my-God-this-is-the-pinnacle-of-my-existence mind-blowing, there was many an enjoyable event. So, as summer 2019 comes to a close IRL, let’s turn the clock back and recall the sun, salt air, and celebration of BronyCon 2019.
This year, the characters have shifted around a bit.
First, the roommates:
DarkWind: my closest friend, whom I met online before BronyCon 2019. A fellow brony, gamer, and Christian, he has been like a brother to me.
thefluff: DarkWind and I ran across him on the BronyCon forums. Thanks to his generosity, we didn’t have to pay an arm and a leg to room at the Sheraton. (Our share was comparatively just a few fingers.)
ajback404: Our fourth roommate, and clearly the oldest of the four of us. He has a MASSIVE button collection, and we later learned that he loves to give gifts to the community guests.
On top of that, I became part of the Brony D&D fan Discord server in 2019, and some of my fellow fans also appear in the Highlights:
SharkGirl14: a cosplayer from Pennsylvania
SirBobTheMarvelous: one of the youngest members of the channel (says something about the channel when an 18-year-old is the youngest!)
Mind’s Eye: the voice actor of Gregor Morlan in joshscorcher’s Ravnica D&D session “The Living Maze”. Despite my attempts to see him, we never met at BronyCon.
FluffDragonArt: Yes, that Fluff Dragon, the YouTuber. She was vending at BronyCon, but I did manage to intercept her on Saturday. You’ll see what I mean when I get to the appropriate Highlight.
And of course, I got to interact with quite a few brony analysts during the convention, including Voice of Reason, finnthepony, Eliyora, DRWolf001, Lightning Bliss, Silver Quill, British Ninja, and of course, joshscorcher!
