Prereader verdict on new Midnight Rising chapter is in...

And unfortunately, that verdict is unanimous:

Complaints were: too meta, hard to follow, does nothing to advance the plot, and potentially makes things worse while trying to fix them.

Still waiting on Midnight Rising prereads...

Which are particularly important this time, because the first preread I got back was negative. As it came from AJ_Aficionado, whose opinions I particularly value mostly because he’s more interested in the story than the sex, I tend to give what he said about it credence but still want to hear from everyone else before I start making changes to the new chapter.

Mind changed on removing the griffon arc from Midnight Rising + teaser

After receiving pleas from multiple readers to keep the Enter the Griffon chapters in place, I have decided to do so and go with my original plan, which was to simply offer new readers the chance

    One final thing...

I have been advised by no less an authority than CHS acting Vice-Principal Ms. Cheerilee to use the upcoming Midnight Rising chapter as strictly a recap to relaunch the story, and not get into Lemon Zest until the following chapter, when I can devote a full entry to it without any split in focus. No, really. She did. You’ll see what I mean when the chapter launches, but basically, I’m

I have reached a decision on Midnight Rising...

Thanks in part to one final comment that came to me over PM last night. It wasn't a mean comment. In fact, it was nothing but a simple, politely asked question from a reader I hadn't heard from before: do you have to read the griffon chapters to understand what comes after?

Independence for Turnabout Storm! · 4:14pm Sep 5th, 2019

In a manner of speaking as its number of likes just reached 1776, the same number as the year of American Independance! I'd like to thank yet again everyone who read, enjoyed, or commented on the novelization, as well as the original author, Chrome Regios, who took on this Herculean task to begin with and churned out the first 42 chapters. The stories this work has spawned live on as well, in the form of the The Lawyer and The Unicorn, and the Firefly series. And of course, let's not neglect the author of the original video series, NeoArtimus, who started this whole thing with an all-time classic crossover and ended up inspiring so many other stories, including four of my own works, in the process.

Plans going forward? I keep saying I want to give TLaTU the same editing pass that TAS had, and James Cyberlink has already started into it. Unfortunately, my motivation to do so remains low at the moment, as other writing projects like Firefly and Nightmare Night still take precedence, as does my long-languishing second novel. Nevertheless, I will try to at least start it in the next couple weeks. And no, I haven't forgotten about a promised sequel, but at this point, with so much other stuff to do, I think I'm more waiting to see where the new online series goes first to see if it's usable for the purpose.

I do have at least one new story for those interested who haven't already heard: After seeing the HBO series Chernobyl, I was inspired to create a story where Celestia and an initially ignorant Twilight visit the place in the modern day, with the former presenting it as a mystery to be solved without initially explaining what happened there or why she wants Twilight to see it. It takes place in the Phoenixverse, which is what I'm calling the verse with Turnabout Storm, Firefly and TLaTU, giving teacher and student a reason to be on Earth. It's been well-received, and at just 15k words can be devoured fairly quickly. So if you're interested, here it is:

EThe Best and The Worst
Twilight Sparkle has seen some of the best of humanity during her visits to Earth. Now it is time she sees some of the worst...

Last but not least, I also ask again for donations to the original Turnabout Storm story author, Chrome Regios, along with her new family. They've fallen on hard times on the Philippines, and they could use some financial aid. A credit card is all you need to donate, and even a few bucks goes a long way over there given the exchange rates. I've made the initial donation myself.

I wouldn't ask this unless their need was real, folks, so thanks in advance.
