    Extra Life 2021 Informational Post

Well, it's been five years since I've last attempted to livestream for 24 hours for the Extra Life charity. With my improved setup, I've decided to do so again.

    Nostalgia

As someone who played Destiny 1.0 like mad for two months in an effort to feel like I had recouped the $60 I spent, I'm feeling rather nostalgic for the time that everyone just defaulted to blaming Activision for all of Destiny's problems.

    Anyone else?

Because goddamn has Bungie got a fucking hard-on for sunsetting and vaulting paid content.

    Just beat Terminator Resistance.

Well, when I haven't been writing or working, I've been slowly making my way through Terminator Resistance, after hearing too many good things.

IGN scored it a 4/10, while Steam users have it currently rated at a 92/100. That's quite the disparity.

No Man's Sky Beyond · 3:26am Aug 15th, 2019

Well, this morning, the PS4 patch dropped barely 10 minutes before I had to leave for work. I got it downloading and left for downtown.

Then as I was going on break, I realized the very real possibility that VR motion sickness would likely cripple me, and the next best thing would be trying it out on this 2k ultrawide. So I raced home on break and began downloading it on the PC as well.

As I feared, I didn't even last five minutes in PSVR. Started to climb a hill and that was it. Looks like I might have to stick to VR games where the character is stationary, like Beat Saber and Superhot.

Luckily, an ultrawide screen doesn't have those problems.

My starting planet was a scorcher.

Nearly all the player ships have been scaled up considerably.

Ring planet in my starter system.

My current arid planet in my second system.

Luckily, the PSVR is getting some use, Brady has far better VR legs, and played that version right alongside me for a couple hours tonight.

I'm happy to know that at least some people on this project kept their nose to the grindstone to make something of value for the players who gave good money for it. But I worry about resurgence movements of games that finally "get finished," because with the shoddy state of the games industry, I just know the wrong kind of people are going to take the incorrect lesson from this.

Didn't know No Man's Sky was still getting updates. How much is it on PS4 and would you say it's worth it?

So is No Man's Sky good to play now? I might have gotten it back when it launched if I hadn't heard how horrible it was then.

By now I'd say $20-30.
