A JD Review: MLP Season 9 Episode 15 - "2, 4, 6, Greaaat" · 7:58pm Aug 11th, 2019

The one that came outta nowhere. Like an RKO but less impactful.

BAH GAWD.

Ohhhh, wow. These episodes are dropping like flies. Am I trapped in some twisted future where I missed like two weeks of new episodes? Anyhow, this episode begins with more Buckball, and with Rainbow Dash becoming a coach for the School of Friendship's team. Though Pinkie, Fluttershy, and Snails (MVP of this episode, I guess) can't really play because they're the best in the world, we have a new team of ponies representing the School of Friendship, alongside a new cheer team! And Rainbow Dash is coaching the cheer team!

Yeah, wasn't a fan of this one.

Not only is Rainbow a huge ASS throughout the entire episode, all the growth she's displayed as a character (you know, being LOYAL and all) is completely thrown out the window, and for what? Well, she just didn't want to teach the cheer team because it's "boring". That's it. She'd rather sit on the bench and each popcorn watching the Buckball team practice. Seriously, Element of Loyalty? How dare you ignore Yona, Smolder, the changeling, and two new waifu materials. For shame. Burn her.

Hopefully the season picks up from here. 6/10. What were your thoughts?

while it was an ok lesson for her to learn... Twilight was a fucking idiot for making Dash the captain of cheerleading.
A. Dash doesnt care for cheer leading cause shes one of the poines that plays on the field and is so full of herself that she doesnt need to pay attention to the cheer leading squad and from the sounds of it, didnt even know they existed in the first place.
B. She ALSO has stated throughout the episode she knows jack shit about cheer leading, so reality is, shes not qualified to even teach them how to cheer. But you know who IS? PINKIE FUCKING PIE!!! I dont care if Pinkie Pie is "The Best in the world" at Buckball. Shes the pony that knows how to cheer everyone up and probably knows alot more about cheer leading then Rainbow Dash.
C. That moment Twilight was being smug at the end i just wanted to punch her cause she already KNEW this stuff that I mentioned, but did it anyways to force Dash to learn a lesson... one that Im sure up until now shes never needed to learn outside of the episode she and Rarity were put together to see why they were friends I think?
and yeah... Dash was kinda a dick. and while I do defend her for this, she coulda handled this situation better...

This was not one of my favorite Rainbow Dash episodes.. Hell, I'd say it's not one of my favorite episodes of the 'overall' series. I mean I'd rather save my deeper thoughts for my own review but this is the worst I've seen R.D. out of character since... Well, I can't remember when. It's like an Adam Sandler movie where he spends 2/3 of the movie a jerk and in this case Rainbow Dash spends half the episode trying to avoid the cheerleading group that we as an audience end up suffering more than her. Apart from when we got to see the actual cheer take place by the end, this episode to me not only makes us question whether R.D. is truly the 'Element of Loyalty' but the fact that out of the whole cast it's 'Snips' who finds the value in this group (And mainly to promote MERCHANDISING). *Sighs* This Is going to be a heavy review for me to tackle, but... I guess even 'final' seasons have their off days.

After seeing most of the 2nd half of the season due to the China showings, I can safely say that this was the weakest episode of the season.

Yeah the big problem of this episode is how it made Rainbow so unlikable through most of the runtime. I get her not caring for Cheerleading, but she could at the very least try at least once, but no just ignore the cheer team who are obviously wanting to do it. Sue at least learns her lesson and fixes it in the end, so I don’t think it’s the worst in the series, but we still had to sit through an unlikable Dash for most of the episode.

I think Twilight’s decision makes a little sense with RD being able pump up a lot of ponies. We see this when she motivates ponies in hurricane Fluttershy, pump up the CMC when they made their cheer for the Equestrian games, and we even see her human counterpart pretty much playing as a cheerleader in the opening of the Friendship Games. Though Rainbow still has a point at knowing nothing about cheerleading.

While the next episode has another character acting a bit questionable it’s better and more entertaining than this episode so far.

Thankfully we have one more Rainbow Dash episode with Shy and Daring Do before the end. Hopefully it’s better than this one.

First :

Am I trapped in some twisted future where I missed like two weeks of new episodes?

Well , in a way , you kind of are since all those episodes and even more till the episode 20 (think it's that one) leaked some time ago

Has another side note , it may be because I have a corrupted spirit (even tho I swore to never ever clop) but that picture could be missinterpreted so much ifyunowatImean ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) .

Now for the review:

I have to say that you covered most of what I wanted to say in your review XD!

I didn't really liked the episode , primarly because Dash was a fucking ASS to everyone (but especially the team she was supposed to coach)
but also because the plot was both not to my taste and pushed in a way that is sooo unlike the characters in the show ... Again on Dash , I don't think she would normally IGNORE people she is put under the direction to train , I mean , she is a wonderbolt , I don't know how it works but I am pretty sure she needs to train people there too and even tho it ain't the same thing , it's the same spirit ... Ok she would neglect them because that's freaking cheer leading and not Mortal Kombat (god , I'd love to see the main six react to Mortal Kombat , someone make a fic about the Mane six reacting to various things of our world like video games , movies etc !) but not completly IGNORE them ! She is the element of freaking LOYALTY , not epicness , speed or whatever character trait she has !

Another thing is that the two new characters they put in the team where just ... urgh ... I hated them ! Especially the one with the accent , I can already imagine the one they are gonna give her in the French version and it scares me XD (and trust me , the "rich accent" is way worse in french than it is in english ...) . They also where flat ! Even tho they had only a few lines , I still feel like they where badly done ...

To end on a positive note because this episode is not total crap , the BuckBall match at the end was very cool to watch even if it was very short !

Now for the cuteness ladder ! Because it's not because I didn't like an episode that it wasn't cute ! And the proof is that , in fact , there where many momment that where cute has heck ! I don't have them in mind right now since I watched the episode almost two weeks ago but I remember them being numerous ! giving this episode a 8/10 !

All around , this episode wasn't HORRIBLE , it was a lambda-cartoon episode but a bad MLP episode , if you never watched MLP , this episode won't be bad for you but for us that watched most if not the entire show , it is definitly below average but not a terrible one(A really bad episode is Season 1 finale , THAT is a bad episode) and that is why I give it the note of 8/20 !

PS: I know it's one of the recuring things in my review but I was thinking , do you guys actually care about the cuteness ladder ? Because even tho I don't mind doing them , I feel like they are useless and since I saw most episodes you review some time ago , it's always vage ...
If y'all really like it , I will keep it but if not , I don't see the point in keeping em ...

On that note , thanks for reading and see you next time on TheDino's Review !

2, 4, 6 GREAT? More like 2, 4, 6 CRAP!

Me: That's what your hubris gets ya kid.

I guess...

Yup, Nothing but a good ol' fashioned learning experience to get Dash back to her hinges. You know, sometimes I can do this whenever Dash can go off her tracks.

5104035 Twilight took after Celestia, I see. :trollestia:

5104044 Heard season 9 gets better from here on. Here's hoping.

5104064 I always do enjoy the Daring Do episodes. Can't wait for that one. :rainbowkiss:

5104128 I do like the cuteness ladders. They're fun. And yes, I specifically put that picture up there to be lewd and misinterpreted. :moustache:

5104494 Oh, Twi. Don't ever try to take teaching methods from Celestia. :twilightoops:

5104535
so does that mean end of season Twilight is gonna send someone else to deal with the main villains and sit on her fat plot eating cake?

5104535
I sincerely hope so. I get some episodes had been released early through China, but I'm choosing to wait until their official release in the states before I know what the remainder of the season is offering.

5104535
Thanks for the answer and has for the picture , I don't know why , I kind of expected that it was on purpose even tho I wasn't sure XD

This same kind of character suicide happens in this week's coming up episode' "A Trivial Problem". Why must the book horse suffer, too?

5104567 It's worked so far, hasn't it? :derpytongue2:

5105259 Oh, no... :twilightoops:

5105283
last time it broke the tree of harmony soooooooo...... no
