My Little Pony Season 9 News 08/09/2019 · 11:37am Aug 9th, 2019

WAKE UP, DASH!!! It's time for work!

GOOD MORNING, FIMFICTION FANATICS!!! This is the Dramamaster829; Critic, Actor, Writer, Motivational Speaker, and Occasional Singer, keeping you up to date with the latest news for the final season of MLP! If you hadn’t guessed by the image, the season continues with an upcoming Rainbow Dash episode and I’m sure there’s a ton of fans who expect this story to be ‘20%’ cooler than most of her stories (Even though she’s had her share of ups-and-downs over the years). While last week’s Pinkie Pie episode was not really the episode most fans were looking for, for me it was neither the ‘funniest’ nor ‘deepest’ Pinkie Pie story I’ve ever seen, but I am cautiously optimistic that this next episode will more than make up for it. With no further delay, let’s dive right into the Rainbow Dash episode entitled:

2, 4, 6, Greaat

Now I understand this episode was released early in China, as well as on the Discovery Family App… But if any of you try to spoil the episode for those who didn’t see it…

You know what to do boys.

According to the episode’s official synopsis, the School of Friendship is forming their own buckball team in the wake of the sport’s popularity (Marking this the second episode of the season where Buckball is part of the focus). However, Rainbow Dash must come to terms with the fact she’s not going to be the team’s official coach. While it’s easy to name any of the Mane Six as the coaches for the team (Like the ponies who’ve known the game long or have actively played), if Rainbow Dash felt discouraged for missing out on the action just to visit all the museums then it’s really going to bite her hard in the flank that she can’t lead the team. I’ve gone over this synopsis at least one time before in a previous blog, but we all know Rainbow Dash believes she is a natural leader, she craves being in the spotlight, she wants to be part of the excitement, and she’s got the ‘Iron Pony’ title to back it up. Which does beg the question: If not to coach for the sports team, what else is there for the most awesome pony in the group?

As I’ve been going over the title of this episode, a though process came to my mind:

2, 4, 6, Greaaat… 2, 4, 6, 8… 5, 6, 7, 8…

*Light bulb pops up* Oh yeah… So now it’s all coming together. A clever play on words and numbers, while I’m no sports person by any means necessary (Despite playing for community teams occasionally), every school team won’t be complete without a ‘cheer’ squad. Now some folks don’t give much credit for cheerleading in general, to some it’s just a bunch of either pretty (Or stuck-up) ladies dressed in frilly uniforms, waving their pommels about, shouting words, and doing fancy flips. Yet people don’t take into account just how competitive cheerleading is as much as the games they cheer for, the cutthroat nature behind the skirts, yet at the same time all the passion it takes to motion those in attendance to spread words of encouragement and support for their team even if the audience knows their team is doomed to fail (Especially the worst sports teams on the planet currently). While I myself may know next-to-nothing about cheerleading apart from taking similar dance seminars and choreography sessions for musicals, if movies like ‘Bring It On’ (Also a Broadway show) and watching cheerleaders at college football games have taught me anything, there’s more to the aspect of cheerleading that folks truly don’t take into consideration.

Yet there’s also this one account to bear in mind: If this subject does involve Rainbow Dash, is she truly the right pony for the job? As I’ve mentioned before, Rainbow Dash ‘is’ a natural leader, we’ve seen her motivate her teammates whether it’s her friends or the Wonderbolts, and with her enthusiasm she knows how to get others pumped knowing how ‘awesome’ they can be. But then I’m reminded of this one fan video where she was made to do those ‘Pony-licious’ chants and boy did Rainbow Dash appear not to have fun (Claiming she’s too cool to end a sentence with a rhyme) noticeably that energy wasn’t there even for the sake of comedy. For some fans, there is some concern that this lack of motivation won’t be there in terms of leading a ‘cheer squad’ when she feels she’s better off leading an actual sports team and for folks like myself that is cause for concern. But going in as cautiously as possible, I can only hope that come what may perhaps this episode may grant some perspective even if I may have seen a story like this before.

But the big question still remains:
