Bronycon 2019, The End of August in Baltimare · 2:32am Aug 8th, 2019

It's over. It's done. No more will I have to suffer the heat and humidity and thunderstorms of Baltimare in August.

I will miss BronyCon, but not this year's con. This year was a disaster. "Linecon" doesn't even begin to describe it. I've got over 20 years under my belt of helping organize and run cons on the scale of BC, and in short, this was embarrassing; and I'm not even a staffer! I never saw one panel. I never saw one guest. I'm rather annoyed with that. THEY FORGOT THAT QUILLS AND SOFAs EXISTED AND PAWNED US OFF ON TO PASTEL PASTURES AND NEVER EVEN WARNED THEM! (Both sides tried to make it work, I think we basically succeed.)

But enough of that. What did I enjoy? I got to hang out with other writers (can I say that now? I'm a "writer"? kthxbye.) and enjoyed it immensely.
I did a speed-fic from Rob Cakeran and was actually content with the results (unlike Trotcon's speedfic results. BTW, both should be up in a few days). I talked to Georg and even had a wonderful talk about "writing" and "story development". I created a memorial for Admiral Biscuit because he wasn't there (he walked out of the room, what else was I supposed to do when he left his top hat on top of his typewriter? If that's not a "memorial" for him, I'm not sure what is. Spoiler: he approved. :) I got to meet individuals I've seen on line and never met before. I got to see folks I've met in past years. I GOT AUTOGRAPHS OF "REAL" AUTHORS!!!! (yes, I squeed like fanboi back in my hotel room, sue me!) The wife and I even got to attend the writer's dinner on Saturday (thank you, Wanderer D!) I found out that Skeeter the Lurker is fairly local to me. (Should I move...?). My eyes have almost recovered from the volumes of pink worn by Trick Question. (Ow!). And I learned that Bookplayer's child will be inundated with ponies and rabbits for the rest of her life. Then there was Drax99, a definite card if there ever was one. And Shachza is still always fun to talk to.

(I'm sure there's more I can't remember, but hey, that's half the fun, right? Actually, that's half a bottle of what ever now that I think about it.)

And even more importantly, I got ideas. I've got inspiration. And assuming I can get caught up on chores at home, I think I'll be doing some writing for the first time in a very long time. (I have about 3 or followers, I owe them *something*.)

I made the trek through the vendors room and about broke my back hauling crap (mine, and the wife's) back to the hotel room. My credit card still hasn't forgiven me.

Let me now show you the Stack of Awesome:

It feels weird that this has ended.

I only ever attended one con, and it was, indeed, an experience.
