The Last Bronycon · 7:00pm Aug 6th, 2019
The very last Bronycon brought on a lot of feels that I wasn't expecting. It was only my second time there, and to be fully honest my roommate and I weren't planning on going again after last year. That all changed when they made the announcement that this would be the very last ever Bronycon.
Last year was interesting, to say the least. They handed out little colored badges that showed who you could and couldn't talk to, and the amount of people there seemed pretty good. The problem was, no one was wearing the green badge. People were either wearing the yellow badge (don't talk to me unless I already know you), the red badge (don't talk to me at all), or weren't wearing a badge at all. It made it hard to tell who we could and couldn't approach, and as a result we didn't really make any friends. The panels were fun, and I loved the Dealer's Hall, but it didn't stand out all that much.
This year was vastly different. It was a 'Line Con' for sure. Never-ending lines for panels and the first entry into the Dealer's Hall could be intense. Oddly enough, that was what seemed to make the day fun. Standing in that line, we actually began to talk to people. I made it my personal goal to try and network a little bit and to remember to get people's contacts to talk to them outside of the con. Sure I didn't get a lot of contacts, but it was still more than I usually did at a con.
You see, I'm used to anime cons. Specifically anime cons in Florida. We don't go to them anymore because honestly it's just a bit pain in the butt. Everyone is so catty. They wont talk to you if you aren't cosplaying. If you are cosplaying but you're not up to their standards, they'll treat you like crap. I was so done with the con scene for a while until we discovered Furry cons. I view Brony cons as one step above the furry cons. I had so much more fun, and it left me just itching to find a new one to go to since this one will now be gone. It's really a shame, but sometimes there's nothing else you can do but move on.
This brings me to why I even started my account here. While waiting (for 5 hours) at the airport for our flight home, we ran into even more bronies. It was amazing to sit and chat like that. Time flew by so quickly. Two of them in particular mentioned that I should really start writing again and that I should come here to FIM fiction and start up an account. Here I am, and I'm ready to write. I'm going to make it my personal goal to try and do 1 short story a week, but we'll see if that actually happens or not. I work at Disney, and I tend to work 10-14 hour shifts every day.
But for the sake of my own creativity, I shall try!
Thanks for reading, everyone. I look forward to meeting you all and making even more new friends.
Glad to hear you had a good time! Personally, I've never been to a big convention like that, but nonetheless it's nice to know that others are enjoying themselves.
And also, welcome to FimFiction! I hope you enjoy your stay!

Thanks for the welcome!
I grew up going to at least one convention year. It was always my annual highlight. It gave me something to look forward to.
