    Where have I been?

Where have I been? Short answer is dealing with very stressful things then getting sick.

Coping of a Former Human Removed (Deleted)

Today, I have removed the "A Deer Named John" companion piece "Coping of a Former Human" from my published stories list. I've been considering this action for a long time (years) and have finally made the move. The reason being that it doesn't easily fit with what I have planned moving forward with its group of stories. Those stories I still want to write, just they now no longer have the weight

    State of the next chapter

Have spent part of this week nibbling away at what could be considered the cold opening of the next chapter, which wasn't originally planned for. The fun of adjusting the end of the previous chapter. Reviewed the overall notes as well and am currently dealing with an issue which would have become a plot hole in about eight or ten chapters time so doing best to plug it before that can happen.

    It is finally here!

It is here. It is FINALLY here! Approximately two years from the date I was originally aiming for and on a date I otherwise wouldn't have but the distraction is very welcome. The new chapter is finally out of my hands!

As the author's notes say at the end of the chapter:

    Finally!

The draft for the next chapter, current title (MA2-C3) City Search, is finally complete. It still needs a little tidying up but, so long as major changes don't need to happen, it shouldn't be long until it is posted. If major changes do need to happen, I will post an update. The title may still change if I come up with something better before it is posted.

A Low Time (Warning: Dark but hopeful, I hope.) · 12:57pm Aug 1st, 2019

Been just over a week since last post. A few hours after I made that last post, I learned that a friend of mine (and former brony (though do we ever actually leave ponies behind?)) tried to take his life. Thankfully, another friend found him and medical help was in time. He's still in hospital but recovering.

Has been a shock to everyone's system, especially the two others in our group (myself included) who deal daily with our own depression and dark thoughts. Truly, I understand why he tried. Been that low myself many times in past few years, often for the same reasons as him. Hope to see him pull through and out of hospital sooner rather than later.

For myself, just glad the method my darker thoughts want is difficult to do in my country.

Fact it came after such a time of relief for me, getting 'The Fractured' posted and a non-fanfic piece off to a competition, has made the last several days a time of reflection. It has greatly thrown my mind from getting to work on bigger fixes for 'The Fractured' and the completion of another non-fanfic piece. Just trying to pull myself through while thinking of a friend and otherwise doing best to distract myself.

Seeing that people are enjoying 'The Fractured' has been one of those welcome distractions. Even if people weren't liking it, the fact they have given it a chance has been heartening. To anyone who has read 'The Fractured' and liked or disliked it, I simply say this: thank you.

I don't doubt there will be more dark detours on the roads my friend and I walk in this life, there will be lighter ones too. But, right now, in the words of Martin 'LittleKuriboh' Billany, "We're still here".

I won't darken things further by relating my own personal experiences, and the least I can do is wish everyone well, so all I can really do is recommend a song from my favorite artist, even though I have no idea what anyone's tastes are. But, hopefully, maybe they'll have a positive impact. Or, at least, the thought will count. :twilightblush:

Devin Townsend's Here Comes the Sun. (Though I'd recommend both the entire Empath album and the accompanying bonus disc full of demos.)

Thank you for that. In no way is the following a bad thing, simply reading the song title was enough to make it my earworm for much of the day. Probably find out how my friend is tonight.

Otherwise, I'm doing my usual thing of just trying to be helpful to others. Personal win for the day has been patting the more skittish of the two neighbour cats which visit in the morning. Third time I have patted it so far and all in the last week. Considering my goal was to try and pat it by the middle of September, I think it can be declared a success.
