Twilite-Sparkleplz: An Artistic Descent Into Cutetatory · 8:41am Jul 31st, 2019
As most bronies have done, I've spent the better part of the past eight years admiring the superb fanart that this community has made. The months rolled into years, and I started recognizing artists by their masterful brushstrokes.
When EqG rolled around, one particular artist's material stood out from the rest. It had a distinctly anime-ish style, but still paid enormous tribute to its source material. Her work was like a beautiful blend of personal technique and canon inspiration. What's more, the faces, bodies, and color spectrum were adorasexy as all Hell:
I couldn't help but notice that some of her work turned out to have some sort of vague storyline:
And it so happens that this artist has drawn the single absolute best fanart of Sunny Flare that exists in the galaxy:
But what captured my interest the most--along with another brony art-enjoyer--was her remarkable take on illustrating the wonderful waifu that is Sunset Shimmer:
This resulted in bronies (like us) flippantly suggesting ways for her to sketch Sunny Buns. Like her in a black dress:
And then I, in my Sunsetsparkle obsessed mindset, asked for Sunset Shimmer holding Sci-Twi in her arms. Lo and behold:
To say the least, I was tickled pink with humility and joysparkles. And I had the pic on my FimFic User Page for a while to celebrate.
Well...
Years passed. 2016 happened. I slacked off on some things and got obsessed with a few other things. What should happen? I noticed this piece of fine art coming up on one of my various feeds:
I closely observed the tags and messages on Deviantart and Derpibooru, and I think something deep within my nervous system snapped.
Hory Pantsu. She draws crossdressing art?!?! F'NAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.
And I proceeded to DM the poor and unsuspecting twilite-sparkleplz with the speed of a burning comet. After what was one of many... many awkward messages in this chaotic decade that we're living in, she seemed pleasantly surprised that I had waited so long to commission something from her. Not only was she willing, but she illustrated my idea with flying colors:
And so it began.
Turns out, I wasn't the only one who seemed to think this was a... snazzy angle for EqG pt 1's long-forsaken male support character:
Wind the clock back to late 2016. I had discovered senpai supreme who deserves to be loved and cherished forever and ever Drace Domino. Drace's erotic works of futanari wonder gave me sanity, life, and hope. So, naturally, I commissioned him an idea with an insultingly long "synopsis." Like a self-respecting gentleman, he said "uhhhh... no, but try again with something simpler!" He also added "I encourage you to try writing that idea yourself cuz it's quite snazzy!" (paraphrased)
I would end up commissioning Drace to write Simply, Coco, Darling! Which still remains a masterpiece of fluff and horse dicks.
But, in the meantime, I plotted and brainstormed this idea called "Felicity," which was about Flash Sentry's descent into femboyism/sissification, courtesy of magical bullshiet. The idea had many twists and turns (and spinoffs and spinoffs of spinoffs). But, to put as simply as possible, the original idea consisted of Flash being supported in his transformation by Cadance and Shining Armor... ... ...who also "seduce" him into a consensual polyamorous situation. Threesome hijinks ensue (f'naaaaaaaaaaaa).
One reason why I stink at pr0n is cuz I overthink stuff too much. No matter how hard I conjured the Felicity story in my head, it always came out... really "dirty." Like... there was no tap-dancing around the fact that what Cadance and Shining were doing with Flash was pretty low, even if everyone was legal and consensual. It just didn't sit right with me and I was too obsessed with over-analyzing the nature of Flash's "transformation" that I couldn't get the plot to tonally register as purely "erotic." That's still a problem I have with most of my ideas, but it's not like many people are really worried about it.
So, as time went on, I started imagining a slightly... less in-your-face erotic take on the "Felicity" idea. This worked out perfectly because Twilite-Sparkleplz only ever draws SFW stuff. Furthermore, I generally enjoy commissioning SFW art cuz I get to share it with more people. So... for better or for worse... this unwritten story about Felicity evolved into him simply being a surrogate "younger sister" to Cadance and Shining Armor:
And then "Felicity" Sentry gets transferred to Crystal Prep under the watchful supervision of Cadance and Shining Armor, where "she" can start a new life:
And then Felicity has to surpass the scrutiny of the remaining Shadowbolts:
Ultimately winning their respect and approval over a prolonged period of time:
Suddenly it became less about sissy jollies and more about a femboi finding her place. It was a cuter, gentler, and more "wholesome" idea... at least in my mind. And I've got a wyrd-ass mind.
The "story" in pictures (twilite's pictures) more or less ended in the one last shown above. Part of the reason is that I got distracted and asked Twilite-Sparkleplz to just draw Felicity looking adoracute in general:

Or having a sleepover with Cherish and a very very tsundere Sunny Flare (Twilite-Sparkleplz's favorite Shadowbolt):
It would appear this has influenced other(s) to commission twilite-sparkleplz into drawing Flash in a similar situation:
In the meantime, Twilite-Sparkleplz's partner in crime, Nekojakun(kunkun) was also coerced into drawing Felicity for moniez:
And now, Twilite has finished her latest Felicity masterpiece, and I lurve it so much that I think I just might make it the new cover art to Flash Sissy... which is a fic that I think will keep on changing its cover art as the pink purse pendulum swings:
That fic in question has been one of the highpoints of this year for me. I still can't pretend to say that many people enjoy the sort of stuff I've been writing like I myself have been enjoying it, but I seem to have found a decent pace with the fic. Maybe someday I'll apply that pace to something else, but that isn't today.
And during the time it has taken me to get to today, I've had the likes of Twilite-Sparkleplz and her artwork to help make the ideas in my head at least a partial reality. Felicity has become one-half of the Skirtsian mascots in my brain, the other half being Cherish, of course. I'm not sure if my literature can do justice to the adorableness that has previously been conjured in the visual spectrum, but I certainly aim to try.
And on top of all that, Twilite-Sparkleplz has proven to be really fun, intelligent, charming, and inspiring person to chat with. She fills me in on the life of international intrigue, and I send her... WoW screenshots of my void elf fishing. F'naaaaa.
But still, she's an awesome artist. And an even awesomer friend (Because she's powerful and great).
Oh! And did you know?! She's on Fimfiction now!
Everyone go there, subscribe to her, and hail her as Queen of the Ocean! Cuz she is a Queen, y'know. Fimfiction has been graced with royalty.

She makes some of the most adorable pieces of art I have seen in the commilunity and I must compliment you on your choice. Felicity is übercute and a lovely interpretation of Flash.
I do want to mention Queen of the Sea Octavia though, to complete the picture. Because my good sir, thou art right. She is a queen.
I've seen her work passed around here and there, possibly by you if memory serves correct, and it's always been pleasantly cute. I'll check her out on derpi, or wherever she resides sometime and get the full experience.
Definitely an artist to be cherished, no pun intended.

Back in early EG days, he used my Ms. Shimmer art for his profile picture..! I know, I know.. he changes his propic every month, but here's the thing; he talked about how good my drawing was and he'd be using it for his propic for a while..
But..! Two days later, I uploaded another Ms. Shimmer pic.. and then he "complained" that it made his current propic obsolete and changed it with the new one..!
