Story Plug: Legacy · 1:58am Jul 17th, 2019
Anyone who's read Featherfall knows I have a bit of appreciation for OctaScratch shipping, a great deal fewer people realise it's absolutely one of my favorite ships. It's one of my favorite relationship dynamics which is one of the reasons I strive to put it somewhere in my stories it's feasible to do so. With that being said, recently I've been on a bit of a reading binge, catching up on my 'read later' backlog, and that's where I found this absolute gem of a story.
In Legacy by Quillian Inkheart Octavia is 'Ophilia Melody', a hitwoman and legbreaker for the Melody Family, Vinyl is 'Vivian Scratch', head gangbanger, former addict, and owner of Club Cataclysm. The pair of them share a romantic history during their innocent pre-crime years that turned tragic which sent the both of them spiraling away in different directions with their lives for several years, until finally they find one another again, but now vastly changed by time and cruel experience.
This is one of those stories that are not for the faint of stomach, I can especially vouch for the visceral nature of the first chapter, where Ophilia is established as someone with, admittedly, a few compunctions about beating someone to death with a Louisville slugger, but not quite enough to stop her from actually doing so. Following chapters exploring the darker elements of Vivian's life get especially brutal, with a definite content warning on Drug Use.
Legacy has a wonderfully dark, Pulp Fiction-style romantic vibe to it that's equal parts gritty, bleak, and beautiful, and it doesn't even have a hundred likes genuinely breaks my heart because it truly is a diamond in the rough. For those of you looking for some Pulp Fiction action, romance, lesbians, and some well-written Corleone-meets-Breaking-Bad, I highly recommend 'Legacy'.
P.S. Yes, it is spell 'Ophilia' not 'Ophelia' in the fic, that threw me off a little too.

You might actually be pleased to know that Legacy is already pre-written up to chapter 14, though those chapters need a hard edit as they go into the system. The next chapter, Bloodhound, has proven particularly difficult but I think I'll get it done pretty soon.
I'd actually planned on Legacy being put on hold while I work on the sequel to my big-kahuna fic, Bassdrops and Bowstrings, as it hit EQD not that long ago and I'm kinda hyped, but after feedback like this, I think I may keep the story rolling and surprise the people who expected it to be halted for a while.

I’m definitely pleased to hear Legacy is continuing. As for digging into my works, apologies in advance for the density of some of them, Featherfall is a bit of a beast, and the earlier chapters are rougher than I’d like. If you like darker fics then Dead by Sunset and it’s sister stories might be more your speed.
If you wants some crackshippy romantic fluff then the Rules series is a good shot, I think.
You’ll get a lot of Siren’s in my work, though, fair warning.

And meaty stories are fantastic; I love a story that's a real read. However, I am a massive procrastinator and have a looong list... But I'll get to them, that you can be certain of.
