Bad Book Review 02 (The Guardian, Chapter 2: Angel Boogaloo) · 6:04pm Jul 15th, 2019
Welcome back fans and masochists (I'm not judging), to another book review post.
Last time, I told you what the book I'm sharing with you is about, and made mention of the first chapter. Although I didn't really say much about the chapter because there was not much to it.
Now let's get to Chapter 2.
We are given a location: Los Angeles, California. The police smash their way into a church, breaking down the doors and shattering stained glass windows. The neighbors gather and set up outside, drinking alcohol and watching the events like it was some sort of big show.
The police end up in a gunfight, they and the mystery assailant shooting up the interior of the church and destroying the contents, including numerous statues.
We are introduced to an officer named Max, and then meet the assailant.
Who is a priest.
With a machine gun. A MAC-10 Uzi, to be specific. Although while both may be popular to use in fiction, it turns out they are not interconnected. A Google search reveals that MAC-10s and Uzis are actually two different brands of submachine guns.
We are then introduced to:
...Officer Johnson, the squad's seasoned unit commander, scar visible on the side of his neck and concerned etched across his weary face..
Johnson tells the priest to drop his weapon.
And instead, the priest opens his robe to reveal... dynamite! That's right, the priest has dynamite strapped to himself. Before any of the officers can take him down, he runs off into the church.
While Johnson calls for a negotiator, the priest makes his way to the roof of the church and begins to open fire, talking about how doomed everyone is. The police go up after him. An officer named Becker and the priest see a man dressed in black up there with them.
The shoot out continues. S.W.A.T. gets in position (don't know when they got there), and a sniper in a helicopter shows up. The priest is able to shoot the sniper and the helicoptor's rotor with a pistol, injuring the man and causing the helicopter to tip so he falls out, and has to claim to a skid to keep from falling.
The negotiator, Kirkland, shows up, but it's too late because the priest lights the dynamite.
The police start evacuating, but for some unexplained reason, the helicopter malfunctions.
The dynamite explodes, damaging the helicopter, which then crashes into the church and explodes as well.
And with that, the chapter ends.
Quite a lot of excitement for six pages. A real heavy action scene to get the story going.
Let's see where this is going.
If we find out where it's going.
Until next time.
That was six pages? I get the feeling cocaine played such a major role in this story's creation that it could be credited as a co-author.
