I'm pleased to report a successful Nightmare Night chapter release that included a visit to the feature list! Welcome new readers, and thanks, everyone who commented! I admit I had some trepidation on publishing this one for the subject matter, but it seems to have worked out quite well.
As I have some momentum on Nightmare Night, I'll be continuing it, and I don't think I'm giving anything away to say that the main attraction and featured action in the next chapter will be the long-awaited confrontation between Starlight and Eclipse. But there will be some side action as well, and we'll check in with characters like Discord and Pinkamena. To say nothing of poor, put-upon and overlooked Trixie...
With all major characters but Starlight and Trixie consumed and corrupted, we now have several alpha personalities, factions, and free agents floating around, and some friction between them is inevitable. And you can also expect that Sunset Shimmer and the Humane 6 won't remain ignorant of what's happening on the other side of the portal forever...
As a final note, commenters on the latest chapter have said that they're actively rooting for the villains at this point, and I consider that flattery. It's been fun writing these characters, to say nothing of the scenes. It's nice to be able to cut loose once in a while, and just like the original Unleash the Magic, this story is an excellent excuse to do so. Look for the next chapter by the end of July, depending on a very in-flux work situation.
Awesome. Can't wait.
I'm curious should we still called it 'Nightmare Night'? Over 100K words and it is still not morning yet?

Yes, because the story takes place entirely during Nightmare Night. It began at sunset and as currently planned, will end at sunrise. I haven’t stated the time, but it’s around 1:30am at this point of the story.
In my view, word count is not really a good measure of the passage of time. As an example, my current Firefly story (Into the Storm: The Flight of Firefly) took 160k words to get through a single day while its prequel (Before the Storm: The Rise of Firefly) used that same number of words to cover an entire year.
I'm still rooting for Trixie ans Starlight just to see how (if?) they get out if this mess.

The answer will be known in the next chapter! Personally, I’ve always had a soft spot for Trixie, myself...
