Human beings are wonderfully terrible things.

That is a truth Harley Laurel stands by.

For a self-described cynic who smiles with eyes that have long lost their light, the oxymoron is rather fitting. Perhaps that is exactly what she is – an oxymoron – contradiction after callous contradiction, lie after carefully crafted lie.

This is what I have sown.

Somehow, giving a game to Cynical has evolved into 4 guys in a chat for Danganronpa 1, giving Makoto Naegi a voice like a Bond villain. I don't know whether to be proud or terrified.

Also, Ember's playing Kazoo for it. I think that helps to balance it towards one of those.

When you introduce your friend to something you love, and they immediately become a bigger fan of it than you are.

To the point where approximately 50% of the dialogue between the two of you over the past couple months has been centered on it, and he's diving even deeper into the fanbase then you are, coming up with new videos and fanfictions at a rate far faster than you can actually keep up with, and is immediately pressuring all of his immediate friends to give said thing a looksee, making you wonder to

When your dreams write more interesting premises than you can. · 9:43pm Jul 7th, 2019

It’s rare that a game makes me dream of hypothetical situations based off it, but there you go. While I fell asleep this morning (I didn't really sleep well), I dreamt of a short story where a bunch of individuals are trapped in a Dark Deception style mansion, where they need to solve puzzles while monsters chase them through a maze like manor. That dream largely took place from the perspective of an amnesiac girl who soon discoverers that her name is Heidi Hawsner. As she goes on her journey through the nightmare, she meets many people, but most of them are killed by monsters, who had a habit of petrifying people behind her, allowing them to easily catch up to their helpless victim and tear him or her apart. The one exception she discovers is a boy named Conner, who alongside Heidi, never seemed to succumb to the monsters petrification, and halfway through, didn’t even seemed phased by the monsters anymore, and started insisting that Heidi follow his lead whenever the slightest sign of danger occurred. At the end, those two escape alongside two other girls.

After locking the doors and stepping out, they hear a loud bang from the manor, causing all three girls to spin around in shock. As they do, however, one becomes petrified before she can turn to the door, stopping at Heidi before collapsing to the ground. While the other girls scream over this, Conner simply turns calmly, takes one look at the petrified girl, and in a somewhat angry yet quiet tone, says ‘I knew it'. He immediately tells the other girl not to look at Heidi. She instinctively says what, and before her brain can stop her body, she turns to Heidi and gets petrified immediately as well. At this point, Heidi is in tears, and can’t say anything other than ‘W-why? The monsters are gone now.... how are they...?’

‘The monsters were never the ones doing it’ Conner said quietly, causing Heidi to turn towards him in surprise.

'What do you mean?' she asked.

‘What I mean is that those things weren’t our biggest threat in there. No, our biggest threat was you!’

Heidi can only gasp as she looks at Conner in shock. Conner looks to the side and says, "I figured it out while in the mansion. I ran into plenty of monsters before we met, but in that time, I never once heard anything about petrification. That only started happening after you joined us. In addition, it only ever happened while we being chased by monsters, and always only to people who were behind you. Once I realized that pattern, I had to make sure that I was always taking the lead, no matter what. After seeing what happened to these two girls out here, I finally realize why that was happening. I don’t know how, but apparently, looking at you while scared must somehow trigger the reaction. I guess I should consider myself lucky that I was never behind you with monsters nearby before I figured that out.”

"But... that can't be right..." is all Heidi can say, unable to comprehend her doing something like that. Conner simply snorted before saying ,"It is. What's more, I believe you should've known that already... after what you had done."

"Done? I... I did something?" Heidi asks, to which Conner nods and simply says this:

"You seem like you still are having trouble remembering anything. Luckily, I found something that might help to get your brain moving." He hands her a scrap of a newspaper story about an odd petrification phonomenon happening at a college about a year ago, and then says, 'Does the name Collin Castranzo ring any bells?' Looking at the newspaper article, and hearing that name suddenly causes her to start remembering something. Back during her college days, she indeed had a boyfriend named Collin Castranzo, and they were madly in love. One day, they decided to watch a scary movie together. She snuggled up in his arms, and as they cozily watched the movie, they naturally got scared a couple times. However, after their first scream, she realized he never screamed again, and that his grip on her was almost impossible to wiggle out of. Eventually, she discovered that he had been petrified. News of this spread out, and rumors began spreading that Heidi did it somehow, which caused people to look at her in fear. However, when they did, they ended up getting petrified as well, causing an initially small problem to accelerate out of control, until half of the campus was petrified. At that point, her memories left, but it was all she needed to realize the truth. She sat down in a fetal position and was only able to cry.

"Collin was my older brother." Conner said to the crying Heidi, "When we learned what had happened to him, I thought that the girlfriend he'd talked about so much, his precious Heidi, must've done it to him. At the time, I would've loved nothing more than to read that she was killed for it. Even after all of this, part of me still does.” He looked to the side, and exhaled, as his next words came out noticeably softer, “But I’ve gotta be honest, after everything we’ve gone through in that hell hole… I just can’t believe that you’re the kind of person who wanted anything like that to happen. You honestly seemed like a pretty normal, friendly girl, and if I hadn’t found that article and heard that your last name was Hawsner, I might’ve never learned the truth. That’s why… I feel safe in giving you a chance.”

Heidi looked up at him tearily. “Ch-chance? Wh-what do you mean?”

“A chance to do what’s right. I think we both know that we can’t not inform authorities about this. It would be too dangerous not to do anything, and risk having another Collin incident again. That’s why… I’m going to call them and tell them everything. However, in the meantime, we’ll need to get to a place with a phone first. If you really are a bad person, you can feel free to kill me with your petrification. However, if you are the Heidi I knew from in there… then you can feel free to come with me. I’ll make sure you’re safe, and I’ll do everything in my power to try to help you. However, know that I will be telling the authorities. Either way, it’ll be a huge weight off of my back. The choice is yours.” And that’s where the dream ended, sort of cutting to a weird sort of walk through street signs thing, as dreams tend to do.

I know the dialouge is a bit messy (I'm just sayin what I remembered from my dream, and filling it in a slight bit.), but that's the idea my subconsious came up with. It's a bit sad that my mind seems to be slightly better at horror mysteries when it's in literal sleep mode, but whatever, that's how the world turns, I suppose.
