Independence Day · 5:59am Jul 5th, 2019
Today, many of my readers are celebrating the July 4 holiday -- best known to us 'murricans as "Alcohol and Explosions Day". Shortly after sundown, I hiked up the hill to the parking lot of the local community college to partake in the viewing ritual for the latter, and I'm currently at home imbibing a celebratory bottle of the former.
Thing is, it's more properly "Independence Day". And I've got some freedom to celebrate:
As of earlier today, I now have a complete draft of Time Enough For Love.
50,760 words.
I'm not free yet; it's not done done. But I've got a shortlist of minor edits based on prereader feedback, and then it's finished, because it goes in the book that's out to the publishers on July 7 and to the Bronycon Bookstore on August 1. (The big issues, I fixed along the way while I was adding new stuff.)
I know how beloved the original Writeoff version was, but believe me when I tell you that this is the story as it was meant to be told. A sprawling epic of time-hopping heroes and immortal lovers and rivals, with a multigenerational, worldwide supporting cast.
July is shaping up to be a pretty crazy month, but the story will start being posted before Bronycon, and its 12 chapters will drop on a regular schedule.
The wait is almost over.
Yes, this is burying the lede. That's quite deliberate.
Those of you dedicated enough to click through to the blog get the news first -- for the other, lazier readers, I'll start a countdown once I lock down a publication date.
i love u man
Congrats!
Who reads blogs nowadays? We're all too busy getting our horse books published. I'm looking forward to having mine sit right next to yours on the Bcon bookshelf!
Woo-hoo!
Also... I'm a bad 'Murkin. I totally forgot it was the 4th yesterday!
