State of the Scribe: April 2024

You know what they say about the best laid plans? I'll be real brief with this update, for reasons that will be self-evident.

State of the Scribe: February 2024

Another month, albeit the shortest of the year. I still haven't had a chance to get into the process side of my writing and write that detailed plan for the year, been too busy writing a novel. Guess that's a good problem to have.

State of the Scribe: January 2024

This is exactly the 71st month I've posted a patreon calendar. Almost but not quite six years of writing fanfic, sharing all these ideas with you that would otherwise stay trapped in my head. I couldn't begin this post, and the beginning of a new year without expressing my profound thanks to everyone who keeps supporting me. Your help, big or small, is the only reason I'm still able to write

New Story: The First Willowbrook Christmas!

Hey pones! A Merry Christmas to those who celebrate! Last year I wrote a short story for the holiday, but the editing pushed it back for a little while. For those who enjoyed Sisters of Willowbrook, I have a story for you to check out! The final chapter will get posted tomorrow:

State of the Scribe: July 2019 · 8:27pm Jul 1st, 2019

Hey everybody, here with this month's state of the scribe and some updates on the schedule. I'll be quick this time, though there's certainly some exiting stuff happening this month.

The first of those things is the ending of Secrets of the Mane 6, a story that's been with us for almost two years on and off. I never would've been able to finish it without your support, so I'm hugely thankful for helping me dig up one of my regrets and put it right. And though it's not actually on here, FiO: Recalculating will be completing on Tuesday as well. Another awesome FiO idea for the books--and its torch will soon be taken up, so have no fear.

Next, we've added a new story to Friday's cycle of short stories: Twilight Sparkle is an Espeon Now. This idea is a little sillier than my usual, but it's been a long time since I've written anything Pokemon, so I look forward to it. As will be true going forward, the first chapter of any story here on Patreon will be open to anyone to read, with future chapters being for patrons only until the story makes it to fimfiction. But if any of you aren't supporting me and want to check out what either of the new stories this month has to offer, feel free to stop by on the days they're scheduled and see.

Lastly, the Thursday slot. A new FiO story, currently untitled, devoted to some aspects of the FiO community I haven't seen explored yet. Yes, somehow I found something else to write about in this universe. Anyone who's familiar with PaP might know that I was kinda eager to see the side-story count approach FiO's... I've personally made that basically impossible by writing so many of these instead of PaP ideas. I have no regrets.

Speaking of PaP, though. The original story, Last Pony on Earth, has been waiting for a cover for its hardcover print for a while now. Zutcha has finished, along with some all new original art for the new chapters I wrote for it. Expect to see another blog post as soon as I've got the book in my hands to show off.

And that's about it for this month. Yes, I do actually have some days off on this one. Somehow. Don't worry, I'm sure they will be gone again by next month.

I find myself deeply intrigued by that Pokémon crossover. Especially if Twilight manages to turn the rest of her friends into Eeveelutions in her attempts to undo the transformation.

I second that. And now I can't stop thinking of Rarity being a Sylveon

“Recalculating.” “On the Road” was a working title. :)

When it’s done, may I post into the commentsthe behind the scenes pitch I sent you that kicked it off? I won’t post your replies, I just want folks to see how you went from commission to finished product. :)

Pokemon? That's going to be interesting. Not that I know a damn thing about pokemon...

it's been a long time since I've written anything Pokemon

Where?

5082919
Pokemon is where I started writing fanfiction in middle school and high school. It's all posted on my fanfiction.net profile, but it's some real crappy writing 'yo.

You are absolutely right. Brainfart, but it's fixed now. Thankfully the automated systems that actually post the stories don't make mistakes the way I do.

Next, we've added a new story to Friday's cycle of short stories: Twilight Sparkle is an Espeon Now.

First of: Yay! :yay:
Second: Will the story take place in Equestria or somewhere else (like the Pokemon world)?

5082961
It's in Equestria. Beyond that I don't want to spoil it.

I just put the FiO story on the calendar. Less confusing that way.

What does the blue mean? When can we read the new FiO story?

5086347
It means it's staying on my Patreon for the first month (while it waits for a cover). Expect it to come to Fimfiction in August.

The calendar won't appear now.

Man that's weird. Here's a link to the post it came from. https://www.patreon.com/posts/july-calendar-28057509

I'll look into alternate hosting in future months.
