I was catching up on some of the show I hadn't seen yet, and I finally got to the episode where Celestia and Luna take a vacation and they are so cute! I mean, it felt a little weird seeing Celestia bored at what was clearly supposed to be Wicked except it's ponies, after they'd established that she really loves theater, but hey ok I guess these things happen.
I loved Luna a whole lot in the episode, though, like I'd been wanting to see something like this for a while. I loved her kitschy '80s look, and how thrilled she was to just like, be doing something mundane, like visiting the post to send some mail. That was almost kind of sad, in a way, like here's this average, everyday thing you don't get to do because of your position, and it's enough to make her happy.
I wish there was more of this in the show. I could've even done with them eschewing the B plot with Twilight and pals, though that wouldn't do since she's the protagonist at the end of the day. But Luna (and to a lesser extent Celestia) can be really precious, compelling characters sometimes--I love them! I wish we saw more of them.
