Imagination and an Explanation · 8:09am Jun 30th, 2019
Being able to imagine something is not only essential to writing stories, but also to many other things, such as, but not limited to making, games, software, technology, films, general TV/internet shows, devices etc. There's probably literally hundreds of other things, which is, obviously why I'm not going to mention anymore.
So then, why? Why is imagining so important? Well, how do you know how to describe a character without it? How did you come up with the idea for your story ideas, plots, etc? Imagination, that's how!
Everyone has an idea, a spark. You may have gotten your idea(s) a long time ago, or just now from I don't know, maybe a story you just read? A story that just had so many ideas jam-packed into one that you got an idea from it, or maybe you were just listening to a song and then, bam! Alien ponies, spaceponies, and all the other countless other things to do with ponies!
These things never happen predictably, sometimes when you don't want them, like say if you're sleeping, yes I get that alot and it's annoying, yet enjoyable, because I love ponies, you can't stay annoyed at them for long.
Anyway, one of the things you always need to do, I find, to stay imaginative and thus creative, is to nurture your imagination, don't let it die! Never, ever let it die! Don't even think about it!
I also know that sometimes you imagine things likely to be unreachable, let me tell you it doesn't matter. If you get rid of it simply because it seems this way or that way, does not mean that you should get rid of it! Sometimes the unreachable is reachable, we just don't see it.
I can't speak for you, but I have goals/ideas I know, or think I know I'm not going to reach, but I've always kept them just in case. Who knows maybe I will find the time for that thing, or maybe it won't take ten years+.
All I can say is carry on. Don't give up, keep going.
Now remember that poll thing about the future of my story being up to you, and how I was supposed to be putting it here? Well, that may or may not now be next month. Don't believe me? Just look back at the previous blog I'm talking about.
So, why? Well it turns out that this year is being a pain to me in various ways, but all for a good cause, and hopefully by next year I'll have something to show for it. There's a lot of things I'm working on, some of which includes using my skills for making My Little Pony related stuff, most of it's still in the planning phase and will remain so for a while.
Now music! Enough words!
Yep, you're getting some of Adam Young's stuff, today.
