The Quickening: How your own audience can destroy you · 12:45am Jun 26th, 2019

I really didn't want to do this.

Every year that passes, we find more YouTube content creators who have decided to move away from the platform due to different situations. But when it comes to people who tolerate the pressure of their audience, it can become dangerous for one's mental health.

This case has shown me that becoming a content creator is very dangerous, since many people do not have the right personality to be able to handle situations of pressure by an audience full of thousands and thousands of people, either in support or against your own will. Actions.

Being a Youtuber, it's not 100% nice. Being a Youtuber or a content creator can destroy you personally, physically and mentally even in an indirect way.

It has its nice things, but there has to be a limit. Seek help, if you feel anxiety due to your audience (or people on the Internet, generally)

I loved his reactions to the live shows of Nintendo, and especially those of Smash characters. However, with this came a problem that, I’m probably reading between lines, was the cause that triggered the events we’re witnessing.

His own audience pressured him to death. His own audience was heavily influenced by people who took clips from his transmissions, re-edited them for their own purpose and then re-uploaded them to Youtube for easy views. Those who watched these videos must thought “Etika is funny, he’s hilarious and full of joy” and subscribed to his channel to see his next buffoonery.

What I’m trying to say is that those people care about what he was going to do, what was his next crazy stunt, rather than him as a person. The worst is that people take him as a meme and now they take his death as a joke. The fact that he thought his death would be meme’d just shows you how toxic the people surrounding him were and he knew he was followed by memers. Nothing deep about that.

YouTube is now deleting Etika's final message from anyone's account who attempts to re-upload.

Whilst it is awful that Etika is insinuating suicide in the video, he has some good points. "Don’t let social media consume you like it did to me", "Hopefully my story makes Youtube a better place". He put that video up for a damn reason. This whole thing began because he couldn't understand the hypocrisy of social media censoring. I bet Youtube could care less, they want people on their platform all the time because they want money. A passing is nothing to them.

Do not let his death be in vain. Etika's cries for help is a warning. Get help. Listen to everyone. Do not let this happen again. We must take care of each other.

NYPD found his body early today. Gone but will be far from forgotten. I'll miss him :(
