New Upcoming Freeport Venture Story · 3:54am Jun 24th, 2019
As the title says, I've got a new Freeport Venture story in the works by the title Freeport Venture: Tears in the Rain. Inuhoshi has drawn up another great cover art, and I wanted to show everyone. This story should be coming out here in a couple of weeks, and I'm looking forward to showing everyone what I've been cooking up. Story synopsis down below.
Puzzle Piece is the premier information broker in the infamous nation of Freeport, leading one of the most powerful and wealthy organizations in the islands. However, after months of absence from Freeport, he returns to find everything he built in shambles and his lieutenants fighting over the remnants. With chaos reigning in the streets, the Council tells him to get his house in order or see his life’s work swept away. Unfortunately for Puzzle, there are forces in Freeport that don’t want to see him succeed. Nobody can be trusted, nothing is safe—not even his deepest secrets.
Besides this story, I've got others in the works. One is a story I'm working with Chengar Qordath over, and the next comedy Midnight's Shadow story, The Bog Witch. Besides those, I'm contemplating story ideas for a story with Rarity as the PoV character, and a Luna story, possibly with a return to her seeing Archon Sunset Shimmer. Also a story involving Trixie dealing with some time loop shenanigans.
Hell yeah
Interesting. It will be fun to see Puzzle and his organization front and center.
Neat.
Cool, it’ll be interesting to see some straight up gang warfare. It’ll also be interesting to see how/if Puzzle is able to get control over his organization back, either by somehow forcing his lieutenants to come to come to an accord or by giving them all a premature “retirement”. Curious to see what role Sunset and Strumming play in this. The EIS might not want one of its agents getting involved in a gangland power struggle, but she’s shown to ignore them at times if she feels strongly enough about it. Sunset... I can’t say what she’ll do. Stopping a gang war definitely seems like something she’d want to do, but it’s possible that Puzzle might not want her immolating members of his organization he might yet bring back into the fold. Basically, really curious and excited about this story, can’t wait!
Oh dear. That's never a promising phrase. Let's see who ends up monologuing about C-Beams glittering off the Tannhorser Gate.
Also, those other stories all sound fantastic.
I'll be waiting with bated breath.
Since when are the Midnight stories comedy? Except maybe that snowball fight.
Hmmm, so this would take place after Northern Venture I imagine?

Technically this would be the second comedy story for the Midnight Shadow's series. Naturally the other stories are generally dark urban fantasy adventures.

This will be taking place pretty much immediately after Northern Venture.
Oh neat, we’d gotten mentions throughout Northern Venture about Puzzle’s organization falling into disarray while he’s gone. That’s some well played foreshadowing right there. Wasn’t there also mention in a much older story of someone working against Puzzle from the shadows? With what we learned about his past in City of Giants, one can make an educated guess about who it is. Looking forward to it!
I put off reading City of Giants for a while because I never found Puzzle to be a very interesting character. It turned out you managed to add both backstory and lots of personality to not only him but also Daring Do, another character I never found particularly interesting in the past. In other words: I'm looking forward to learning more about the guy!

Since you linked this post to City of Giants I just assumed that this story would be a sequel to that one. The synopsis for such a story would have been deceptively similar. I clearly should have read more carefully.

Yeah, I linked this to City of Giants since I figured it would be those readers who would be most interested in this story, and the fact that I didn't have the option to link it to Northern Venture due to how the website is set up.
And I plan on there being quite a bit to look forward to in Tears in the Rain. It should be an interesting tale if I have my way with it.
