A Final Farewell to an Era · 1:13pm Jun 22nd, 2019
After reading (yes, I realise I am almost a full day late) through TheBiggestJim's tweet (retweeted from Imalou, link below), I feel... somewhat sad. Generation 4 of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic has undeniably been a cause, a catalyst, and a concern throughout most of my post-adolescent life. Seeing the official "letter" that this awesome run is finally over, it leaves a small hole in my heart.
Amusingly, for what started off as a mere little girl's show, has become something so much more. There is depth, there is drama, there is real emotions and connections. Even concepts one would not have initially associated with the show, like quantum physics and mortality are tossed into the mix. It is mind-blowing, looking back on all the amazing stuff that has been borne out of this inspiring fandom. And while, while it is not truly the end of ponies, I feel the end of this generation is likely the end of an era. A more-or-less, good era.
My Little Pony has done a lot for me and my life, both good and bad. It has taught me to better express myself, it has given me exposure to countless people I am thankful to have met. It has led me to those I still do consider to be my best friends and even my first heart-break. The fandom has shown me, so much. Artistically. Socially. Even, if you can believe it, emotionally.
I salute the official end of something so wonderful in my life. May it rest peacefully, knowing it was a force of good. At least, for this one person if no one else.
"Glory to Equestria!"
