June 14 was Daniel Ingram's birthday, alongside William Anderson he oversees the music for the show. Daniel Ingram composes the songs, and has continued to stay in the role even as his work has been divided between the show and the Equestria Girls shorts (and the occasional longer special). Admittedly, his works have become fewer and fewer in the show as a result, and last year at this time he seemed to be in something of a creative slump.
I am happy to say that such is not the case this time around. While I wasn't too fond of "The Place Where We Belong", and "Fit Right In" wasn't anything particularly grand (aside from giving Kazumi Evans one last Rarity song), "A Better Way to Be Bad" was a surprising tango esque song that worked wonders, and without spoiling too much for American fans, there's an upcoming song that shows he's still got it. And chances are he'll have some songs for the upcoming "Rainbow Roadtrip" and "Sunset Shimmer's Backstage Pass" specials.
Happy belated birthday, Daniel Ingram. You've been a wonderful composer, perhaps one of the all time greatest even.
