I just posted a new story! It's over on my clop account. There are reasons you should read it. pls listeen D:
So when I wrote Sunset's Stash, I had zero plans beyond having a larf. In fact, I hadn't even planned the ending (in which Sunset reveals she has a horse donger and Fluttershy goes, "Gimmie!"), it just happened. It was the right punchline for the story I was going for.
That story, by the way, was "porn is not realistic and should not be used as a baseline for comparing yourself or others to." I believe in messages in my clopfics, who knew? :B
But that message, I feel, was overshadowed by the lulz. And I'm okay with that! It's not overly sexy, just about sex, and pretty much all my clopfics these days are about sex rather than featuring it.
But then I realized I had given myself an opening. don't take that the wrong way please
See, I'd long ago come up with this idea for subverting clopfic tropes. What if Rarity woke up with a donger one day and her friends were all like, "Gimmie!"? Replace Rarity with Sunset, and suddenly I have a sequel. So I wrote that.
Somewhere along the way, it became about something more.
The fact is, I'm not even sure I can describe what I did with this story, but I want people to read it. Yes, there are depictions of sex; they are brief and mostly in the prologue. There are also healthy doses of Sunset angst, some crunchy drama, and a ship that was extremely satisfying to write. Like, if you take anything away from reading this overly long blog post, let it be that I took far more satisfaction from writing this story than I ever expected to.
I have two sequels planned. c.c;
But the fact is, I set it up to lure in people looking for another cheap clop thrill and will no doubt be disappointing them. Meanwhile, that bait is going to scare away anyone who is looking for anything but that, and those are the people I want to read it. So if you're not averse to reading about frank (and, let's be real, unflattering) descriptions of sex, and people talking frankly about sexual things, and awkward first kisses, and disgusting and shameful hand-holding, please go give A Piece of Meat a look. Hopefully, you'll not be disappointed. :B
Unrelated, but did you know that, when you go to post a chapter, you can click "HELP" at the top and find a BBCode guide? And you should definitely read the story formatting one, because the green text example is hilarious? XD

this is a weapon to surpass BeanisI just read it, PP. And I got to say there are a lot of passages and themes in there that remind me of some of the best parts of the BCU. I didn't want to drop that in the comment section on the story itself and come off like I'm making broad and unfair comparisons. Figured I'd hide that here on an old blog instead!
But Sunset's characterization has the same hallmarks that we tried to burn in: being confused and angry and confused about her anger, some of that confusion and anger being internalized at herself, being past done with her friends, etc. And I mean this in a complimentary way. You display those interpersonal and personal struggles with something weird in a very real way, and it feels well worn and comfortable in its uncomfortableness. I know how hard it is to make a story about something inherently awkward not be awkward in its own presentation, and you pulled it off remarkably.
What I'm trying to get at is you did good and you make me feel nostalgic for a time when I was more active with my writing instead of my art.
