Journal Entry - Volume 4 - Chapter 1

Dear Journal,

We took Dinky back to my quarters and put her to bed. She... she just looks so... I don't know... innocent lying there! Even though her body has aged several years, I can only hope whatever Kronos did also advanced her mind, as I would think she would be embarrassed to have her mother and I changing her diapers!

We didn't have long to wait! Some time later, Dinky's small tan eyes opened and she looked over to us, sleepily! The feeling I had when she looked at me then... it was amazing! Then, to our amazement, she spoke! Dinky's voice was the sweetest little thing I had ever heard! She even remembered her mother and I!

Derpy and I took her home around lunchtime. I decided to get something special from Sugarcube Corner to celebrate the event! When I returned lunch was ready! However, it appears that while I was out I... missed something.

Dinky apparently asked Derpy what kind of pony I was! Ever since I signed her birth certificate, I've been dreading this day! Derpy wasn't really sure how to answer the question other than to tell her I wasn't a pony. I wasn't really ready to tell her either, but... I figured it was best to just tell the truth.

Together Derpy and I told her about her biological father, Moonlit Dusk, and how I met Derpy. While I wasn't sure if she would accept me as her father knowing this, but I figured lying about it would only make matters worse! She understood that I had always been there for her back then and even more so now! The relief I felt in that was... I don't think there's a word for it!

Dinky... my daughter. I will always be here for you, sweetheart! Count on it!

Just because a parent isn't you biological mother or father doesn't mean they love you any less!
