A Twitter post led me to believe there was a new TYT episode today...

    ...But no.

It was a repost of one of Makaryo's parodies.

    Carry on.

    Life and Misc. Updates

Well, no new Tell Your Tale episode this week, that's why you folks didn't get a blog on Thursday.

No weight loss updates, either; I've maintained my fasting, but I've plateaued at 280 for the time being. More routine exercise would probably push me past the plateau, but as everyone in the Midwest can attest to, False Spring is quickly giving way to Second Winter.

    Tell Your Tale: Cracked It

    "Stick to the smoothies, Sunny."

I think this is the very first time I've found myself agreeing with Posey.

So this episode is a little entertaining, even if it's pure filler at the end of the day.

    Couple things today...

First off, happy 19th birthday to Cosmo the Seedrian, one of the most unique, tragic, and underutilized characters in the Sonic franchise.

Secondly, I've started playing Minecraft again for the first time in eight years.

I'd like to apologize in advance to all my other hobbies.

E3 2019 · 2:06am Jun 11th, 2019

Well, I find myself agreeing with another redditor who said that this E3 is showing all the signs of "the year before the next gen."

By and large, this has been one lackluster show from nearly all participants, with a couple exceptions.

Microsoft is probably going to end up taking the cake this year, with Keanu Reeves and Cyberpunk 2077 being the diamond in the rough. EA's show was lackluster, Bethesda's show was pathetic save for Doom, the PC Gaming Show might as well have been called "The Indie Gaming Show", but to be fair, they had the best pacing (game trailer, interview with dev, next game trailer, interview with dev, and so on).

This year, two things drew most of my ire:

1. Insane trailer-to-gameplay footage ratio.
Seriously, for every second of gameplay, I'd wager that we have a minute of a pre-rendered trailer, many of them not even in the game engine.

2. Trailers for mobile games.
This one really, truly annoys me. It was an issue last year, too, but to my knowledge, not as prevalent.

If you're using your stage and keynote to showcase mobile games, you are padding for time like nothing else. Bethesda's audience cheering for things like Elder Scrolls Blades (and Fallout 76) was absolutely pathetic, and convinced me beyond a shadow of a doubt that those seats were full of employees and paid plants.

Sony is entirely absent this year, and after what I've seen, it's becoming more understandable as to why. If you've got nothing to show, don't put in musical performances, dance numbers, and fucking mobile games.

As a new Switch owner, I'm not sure that Nintendo is going to show anything tomorrow that I don't already know about. Maybe they can get their heads out of their ass and give us a Wii-grade Virtual Console. Other than that, I've got my sights set on Super Mario Maker 2 and Breath of the Wild.

All in all, the second half of 2019 is looking pretty damn weak. The titles I am most looking forward to are all coming in 2020, save for Doom Eternal.

Microsoft better have something good when Sony unveils their Playstation 5 next year, with the surprising success of the Switch, Microsoft might end up in the same place as Sega in the late 90's, a distant third ignored by all but the most die hard fans.

Honestly, dude, I'm not surprised that Sony decided to opt out of E3 this year. However, I am upset with them over the fact that they had a release date for The Last of Us Part Ii slated for September in the fall, only to change the date towards early 2020 in favor of Death Standing.

From what I've read, the specs for both PS5 and Scarlett are nearly identical, like they were this gen, with the only difference being things like clock speeds.

But yeah, Microsoft's decisions as far back as E3 '13 still resonate today, and Sony has undoubtedly won this generation.

But if Microsoft embraces PC gamers the right way (Steam, improving their own store) then they could seriously strengthen their software side.

Bethesda's show was pathetic save for Doom

To be fair, Wolfenstein looks like agreat co-op experience and Deathloop could be good, given Arkane's track record. The Ghostwire game has basically no info about it and with a studio I'm not familiar with, so who knows.

Square did pretty well, revealing more info about the FF7 Remake, FF8 Remastered, localizations for some of the SaGa games, Dragon Quest Builders 2 and especially Avengers.

Microsoft has probably been the best, with tons of interesting games being revealed like 12 Minutes and Wasteland 3, not to mention big games like Cyberpunk 2077 and Halo (though I'm annoyed there's no release date for MCC).

Ubisoft, with the sole exception of Watch_Dogs 3, was shit. Almost nothing interesting.

Devolver was funny as usual, and we got a release date for My Friend Pedro, a game I've really been interested in for the past year.

PC Gamer Show didn't really have anything I'm interested in that wasn't already announced like Borderlands 3, Bloodlines 2 or Maneater.

THQNordic announced 3 games, all of which I'm excited for. Battle for Bikini Bottom was one of my favorite games growing up.

EA had Fallen Order, and that was basically it. Everything else was the same shit they've been selling for years.

We'll see what Nintendo has been cooking up. Maybe we'll get some (good) news about Metroid Prime 4, or maybe the reveal of a cheaper Switch.

All in all, I wouldn't say this E3 was terrible, all things considered. Lots of games I want to play over the next year, so it did it's job imo.

Devolver is just all kinds of crazy. I'm looking forward to My Friend Pedro, despite only hearing about it a day ago.

As for MCC, I'm guessing they want to avoid anything close to their first launch by any means necessary.

Microsoft and Ubisoft have been the only panels I've liked thus far.

I'm looking forward to FFVII's remake next year!

I’ve never played any of the huge franchises outside the RTS genre. I don’t do FPS at all. What had me rapt with attention this E3, and actually came with a ton of gameplay, was the Destroy All Humans remake!

Plus I might just get a Switch for the new Pokémon generation. Or to play Spyro, which is going to be arriving.
