A JD Review: MLP Season 9 Episode 11 - "Student Counsel" · 8:02pm Jun 10th, 2019

The one where I was late again and I'm not sorry.

I really don't know who's fault it is this episode. That's a first.

Ooookaaayyyy. Not really much to say in this episode (other than DWK is gonna lose his freakin' mind). I'd say Starlight should really learn that she can take a break from being a counselor once in a while, but I could also say that Trixie should really be more understanding of her best friend considering she has a job and that takes time away. Yeah, they're both kind of in the wrong this time around. Though I really did appreciate how Maud, Sunburst, Terramar, and Mudbriar all helped the two mares find Silverstream (seriously? You're at least not gonna tell anyone where you are, Silvertstream?)

Oh, what do you know? We got a redemption for the cockatrice... kind of. Yeah, this was a weird one. Maud stole the show, though.

Overall, a pretty good episode. 8/10. What were your thoughts?

Hello people ! It's review time ! First of all , I'd like to say that I am sorry for not posting a review on your last review (review-ception) but I just started playing Skyrim again and my soul got trapped in this game , which makes it difficult to focus on anything else . Another thing I would like to say is that , like the two previous episodes and the next one , I saw that episode a while ago , which means that I likely forgot some details . Now that the appologies are done , to the review !

So , this episode . Well , I liked it a lot because it gave personality to Maud and her ultra annoying BF (I am sorry , but I can't stand him) and it showed that even if she is way more social , Starlight still has things to learn , like the fact that sometimes , work is less important than friends (that's right kids , if your friend really wants you to go out with him/her , skip your job ! It's way less important after all !) ! The secod thing I appreciated is that , like you said , it's no ones true fault here . Trixie just wanted to spend some time with her girlfiend friend , Starlight just wanted to do her job and Silverstream just wanted to be annoying adjectives to descibe a shower (and to do research on Cocatrises too) ! No one is really wrong here , and that makes this episode unique , not just in this season , but in all of the series !

Now on the momment you all hate love ... the cuteness ladder ! Even tho I can't stand her boyfriend , Maud and him really had cute momments in this episode , and even if there isn't anything else to note , this alone made the ladder go to a surprising 7/10 !

All those things , good or not , really made this episode for me . Even if I won't rewatch it often like I do with some of the episodes of the series (It feels soooo wrong to add an S to a singular word when you are French ...) , I'd galdly watch it from time to time . And that , makes this episode take the generous not of 16/20(I am going to be way more severe with my notes , that doesn't mean that I like the episode less , it just means that it will need more to have a better note , that will avoid meh episodes to have a 18/20) !

Has always , hope you liked my review and I can't wait for you to review one of the -in my opinion- most interesting episodes out yet !

I've recently posted a review of this episode, so I'm going to narrow it down a bit. Starlight and Trixie may have a point about certain things (The importance of being for the students and spending quality time with your friends), but there comes a time when you're overworked to the point of exhaustion (Ask A.J.) and then there's that moment when something important 'does' come up and you blow it off to be with friends. Now Maud and Mudbriar definitely stole the show even if the focus wasn't entirely on them, especially the part where Maud praises her love for him as a stone statue. It was neat being able to see the Cockatrice as more than just vicious beasts who turn folks to stone. But I do agree on this one nitpick:

Why didn't Silverstream just leave a note saying where she was going?!

I actually thought this was a passable episode. not the best, but not the worst seeing as most of Season 9 is that. Hey, Ill take what I can get at this point!
I also liked the lesson Starlight learned... one I need to learn as Im overwhelmed with projects. Course, Starlight also should of known from the start to have set times and Silverstream REALLLY was imo, annoying to Starlight for pesturing her with all that minor stuff

It's an okay episode. Honestly, the funniest part was Maud, followed closely by angry Trixie.

5072467 Awesome review!

5072500 Honestly, the only really plot hole in the episode. Other than that, it was good.

5072552 You're right!

5072637 I almost forgot about angry Trixie! Her faces alone were gold!

I definitely look forward to the new episode this weekend. Though I can't help but wonder what could be so bad that it might force a notable trio to split apart.

Anyone who saw the Italian Release... Don't you DARE spoil it!

Life would be much better if you were a chimney sweep and treat your job as fun rather than sucking it out.

5072855
You know, just hanging with yourself, holding a sweep, cleaning house chimneys, just an ordinary job, no offices, no papers, no counseling and appointments, whistling with no stress or worries in your brain, just feel the melody and... just a spoonful of sugar makes the medicine go down, the medicine go down, the medicine go down. Just the spoonful of sugar makes the medicine go down... in the most delightful way.

Yondu lives!

Kind of leaning towards Starlight being a bit more at fault here. She should have assigned times before this happened. Then again Trixie shouldn't have shoved students away when they needed help.

Really fun episode!!!
