I say go for it! If the inspiration is there you should run with it all the way!
Creativity is a very fragile thing. It's fun to make things but, in a lot of cases, it is even better when you can genuinely feel a sense of 'sharing' with what you put from your mind to text and/or paper.
There were lots of great songs for Undertale itself. I think your story could be a lot of fun if you put a tune to it. Perhaps offer a link to the song for people to listen to while they read a chapter? It could help to boost the already strong feel the tale is giving. :)
I'm just glad you are continuing to write. I had a number of times where I was ready to just stop. However I found friends and support and managed to keep pushing on-and-on. Keep writing, sharing, and look forward to how your creative friendships will grow-and-grow.

And lyrics are just fine as, perhaps, someone will feel inspired by it and put a tune to what you write?
You also could find a song that you feel your lyrics would go well with and mention how the song is meant to go to a melody much like "Song Z".
Just never give up on your talents as, truly, you have a talent and you should let it take you as far as it possibly can.
Plus, for me, writing and sharing stories has really helped my overall social skills. (Being socially awkward is the pits. However writing helps to break down these walls by building your comfort around new and different people.)
