FimFiction Feghoot Festival Timeline · 5:59am Jun 5th, 2019
So, first announcement: the feghoot contest is now called the FimFiction Feghoot Festival! Yay, alliteration! Anyway, here's a rough timeline of events for the next two months:
BEFORE CONTEST:
Tonight: I post this blog and message all the judges confirmed so far asking them for short bios to put under their names in the contest rules.
Tomorrow: I ask RogerDoger and Xepher about the feasability of using the Writeoff or Iron Author platforms, respectively, for the final judging round
The rest of this week: I message a bunch of artists asking if they want to donate art to the contest winners. I figure even if only one in ten say yes, that's still a lot of cool feghoot-inspired art.
Later this week: with the judges mostly in place, I send out a list of judges to each judge to make sure there aren't any people who refuse to work with other people. Just in case.
Next week: I finish typing up the rules and running them by the judges to fine-tune them, keep organizing and tweaking the contest, and wait for Friday to roll around
Also next week: I announce some of the judges each day, drumming up excitement
Next Wednesday: I message everyone involved a reminder of when the contest starts and that they should promote it when it does
DURING CONTEST:
Friday, June 14th: 6pm PST (9pm Eastern Time): I create the contest group and the contest goes live. Only stories published after this point in time qualify for the contest.
6:05pm: I post a blog announcing the contest has officially started
6:05-6:20: I message all the judges, editors, artists, audiobook readers, and anyone else I'm forgetting with a short prewritten announcement that they can copy paste into their own blogs and social media that the contest has officially started
Rest of night: I manage questions and comments regarding the contest
Friday, June 21st: I send out an enncouraging message, announce any new judges or artists
Sunday, June 30th: Halfway through announcement
Thursday, July 4th: Independence Day in the United States, which has no bearing on this contest.
Sunday, July 7th: One week left announcement
Friday, July 12th, 12am: 72 hours to go!
Friday evening: I remind everyone that those who private message me begging for an extension and having an at least mediocre reason for it get one extra day to finish their stories up.
Saturday, July 13th, 12am: 48 hours to go!
Sunday, July 14th, 12am: 24 hours to go
12pm: 12 hours to go!
6pm: 6 hours to go! I again remind everyone that those who private message me begging for an extension and having an at least mediocre reason for it get one extra day to finish their stories up.
9pm: 3 hours to go!
11pm: 1 hour to go!
11:59:59pm: Contest ends!
AFTER CONTEST:
Monday, July 15th, 12am: When I say I'm gonna close contest submissions
1:30am: When I actually close contest submissions

I bask in the glory of having run the best FimFiction contest ever!
Well, this is definitely better contest scheduling than I've ever put together. I look forward to being a part of this.

Thank you! Iâm bad at organizing my own life, but great at organizing other peoplesâ !
My Inner Twilight Sparkle is pleased by the organized nature of this, even as she glares with one peering eye at the mere concept of allowing extensions. Oh, dear, now she's ranting about how people could ask for extensions when having a month to do something she could pull off in a week if she's lazy. If you'll pardon me, I need to summon my Inner Spike to calm her down.
Youâve set up this contest better than Iâve set up my own life...
You heccer, that first round of judging is the week of Trotcon D:

Youâre welcome to just join us for the second and final rounds of judging.
I really hope I can afford to go to TrotCon in 2020.

Same tbh. I havenât had insurance for two months now because Iâve been too lazy to finish applying for MediCal.

I donât either, but not as much as I donât like people having great entries but being unable to enter because they stink at time management.

*frantic hand-waving* Shush, quiet! We only just got her calmed down with a copy of the Encyclopedia Britannica! Do you have any idea how hard it is to find a physical copy of that thing these days?
Um, excuse me, but this is relevant to everything.

This sounds like Heartland Rock and Country had a baby.
