'a Eurovision song created by Artificial Intelligence: Blue Jeans and Bloody Tears' · 9:28am May 30th, 2019

Only a matter of time, I suppose.

Must say, though: I've heard way worse English at Eurovision. And less catchy songs, for that matter.

...I must admit, though... I wonder how far off we are from at least a sub-genera of... AI Re-mixers, or something like that? Feed your bot-box, say, Lord of the Rings, Captain Underpants, Animals of Farthing Woods, let it calculate for a week, and wham. Suddenly you've got yourself at least a small audience laughing their butts off over your epic war saga about animals wearing & fighting about magic underpants, and a shiny Patreon keeping the lights on long enough to do it again with Worm, Twin Peaks and The Lego Movie, or something.

Surely it's only a matter of time? I mean, Deep Blue was hardly the first chess computer. That type of thing takes time and research.

Honestly don't even see anything intrinsically wrong artistically with it. I mean, it's not like sampling or remixes killed music. Heck, I know at least one song off the top of my head where the remix is ten-fold better then the original.

Can't speak for everyone... but if I had a big, shiny button in my word-processor that said 'Make Improvement Suggestions?' I'm not sure I'd actually keep every little change, but I'd certainly push it every now and then, and check them out.

Any thoughts from you guys? Love to hear them.

Yeah, same here. Should have specified that. Great little song.

Reminds me quite a lot of some anime openers & closers I've heard, where the singer doesn't quite grasp English as well as they think they do, but it doesn't really matter because the song is still catchy, and they're pouring their hearts out into that broken English.

Well, I read that AI written bit of Harry Potter "and what looked like a large pile of ash'

And it was a lot funnier than some of the crack fanfiction that I've read.

I'm not sure how far off we are from getting rational fiction or stories out of the AI, but as far as entertaining fiction, we may already be there.
