Dude. It's over. I finished the story. It's done! It's complete!
Okay, well maybe not really. There's an epilogue that needs to be written (already outlined though) and posted, and I plan to do that over the course of this week. I want to say It'll be out by Thursday or Friday. It's not going to be anywhere near the length of mot chapters in this story, and I really think it might ended up near or shorter than chapter 1 at something like 10K or less.
But! That's it! It's over! It's done! I threw a sequel hook in there because I have a plan for maybe using this universe again for a completely different kind of story, but that is for far, far off in the future. Sometimes they call me Super has been begging to be completed for three years as of last Thursday, and I plan to see it done before I go to Bronycon... if possible. Let's face it, it took me a month to get the final piece of this story done, so my hopes aren't high for that with all that still needs to happen for Super based on my track record.
That said, it's been a wild ride. I started Star Overhead in February, and four months later, we're 140K in and nearly done. If we forget that I was writing Super concurrently with this up until My Hoof came out, that was at least 35000 words a month. A little more than 1.1K daily, which is really not that bad at all. Some months were more productive than others, but this thing has two 30000 word chapters, so I'd say that's just fine. I had a ton of fun with this, and I've en got a few Ideas as to where to go next. I have a short story planned and outlined that may get written depending on whether or not I can just pickup where I left off on Super, or if I do that and just need a break. As mentioned, I've also got that sequel idea for this, so we'll see how that pans out.
There was a character mentioned several times in Star Overhead that never actually showed up in the story, and in all honesty, without the epilogue, this story doesn't wrap up for shit. Not everything will have a bow tied on it, but a few things will be left open in the end specifically for that purpose. We'll see though. This was intense over the last couple days, and I think I need a moment to catch my breath before I start running with another idea. And Super must be completed. I vowed to never leave a story unfinished, and damn it, I will live up to my promise!
