    IN WHICH HAPPY BOXING DAY!
I meant to post while it was still Christmas (CST) but as usual I’m late. I hope my few remaining readers had a lovely holiday! Here’s a song that’s been in my head lately.

Chuu is one of those who, according to her coworkers, really is just a ball of sunshine. Follow me past the jump.

    IN WHICH I LACK BURRITOS
No, really. I haven’t been by my local burrito place in a long time, partly due to my mother, so I haven’t been able to get good inspiration for another Burritoverse story. Sorry. For now, enjoy my favorite J-Pop group NiziU.

    IN WHICH SCREW DEADLINES
Hey, y’all. Been a few months. Whoever reads this, just wanted to show I’m not dead yet. Do you know NMIXX? You should.

Right. Now, where was I? Oh, I’m sure I’ll figure it out below the jump.

IN WHICH I LIED TO YOU (SORRY)
So… Turns out it's been a full year (!) since my last story. I promised a couple stories in between but failed to finish them. But at least I got my annual Mayor Mare story in. Have some Twice as penance.

More past the jump, if you're willing.

IN WHICH I LIVE… SORT OF
Hi. Been awhile. Not sure who's left to read this. I just now realized I accidentally added an "L" on my last 3 posts. Oops. Well, enjoy Sir Elton.

So, after fixing my screw-up, let's get to the meat of why I'm writing, if you'll pass the jump with me.

IN WHICH I AM DISAPPOINT
Here in 'Murikaland, today is Memorial Day (observed). Have some kind-of-unfitting music.

Hey. It was this or Green Day. S&G was probably the better choice. Anyway, if you'll please Read More…

My Octavia Burrito story seems to have gone over like a lead balloon. One of my downvote fairies got to it early, which certainly didn't help. But then again my previous two stories haven't done that well either. I think I'm losing my touch as a writer.

It's like in Flowers For Algernon where Charlie, at the height of his augmented intelligence, realizes the effects are only temporary and he's destined to become a barely functioning retard again (I'm not allowed to use the "R"-word anymore, am I?), and we get to read the last few chapters where his mind deteriorates along with his spelling.

The difference is I'm not sure I could ever write, no matter how many teachers told me I could. I'm just better at faking it.

I'll be the first to admit Octavia's Burritoverse story could have been better. But I accomplished what I needed to. And frankly I'm just glad to be done with it, as -- like I mentioned in the previous blog -- it had been sitting in my queue for over a year. And I've said many many times how I don't like leaving things hanging.

My readers don't read these blogs anymore either, so I doubt anyone will care if I just spoil most of the plans I have, the stuff I want to write and hope to get to…

I have one more Burritoverse story planned but I haven't started it (mentioned this last time). It's going to be the final one in what counts for a timeline in that continuity. I already know its title and what's generally going to happen. Like everything else I've ever written, it'll probably end the universe not with a bang but a whimper.

I've already mentioned Anon-A-Fix. I expect it to get even more downvotes than my Trump Orangeglow story where he visits Ponyville, because people are sick and tired of "Anon-A-Miss" stories and will downvote them on sight. But, like I said before, I have to post it, otherwise my Applebloom centric followup won't make any sense. I tried to just do the followup, but it required so many flashbacks that I figured I may as well just novelize the comic anyway. I still need to add more stuff to make it fit Burritoverse continuity even more and generally pad it out.

I'll tell you here and now, Sunset's Recovery Arc is set in a universe where Anon-A-Miss doesn't happen (mostly because there's no time for it). In other words, my Equestria Girls universe has at least two separate timelines. In this case, they split after Sasha.

It's a little ironic, I suppose, that I'm splitting my EQG continuities but joining my pony ones. Discord's involvement in my last Mayor Mare story brings my first Spike story into continuity with that universe and brings in "Annie" as well.

There is, however, some confusion from me. Does the frame-story of "Annie" take place before or after Applebloom returns from the Crystal Empire. I think after, but there's not much time before it for Granny Smith to "die". It's all confusing.

I've said before and I'll say again, I'd love to write a side-story or two featuring Alicorn Princess Granny Smith -- who, unlike Twilight and Cadance, is immortal. Maybe have her retrace the Story of the Blanks. Last we saw her, she was camping out in the Ruins of Everfree, beyond where the Tree of Harmony is, which is why no one knows she's there.

I also want to write a story where Sci-Twi meets with Orangeglow in the EQG world a few days before his death wherein she tells him what she believes to be the Secret of the Universe. I know what the secret is. Mere characters might go mad from the revelation.

Suffice to say, nothing's going to end well on that front.

Well, that's all for today, if you'd read my latest Burritoverse story and give it an upvote, I'd appreciate it.

Peace out.

Unfitting? Come on, Simon & Garfunkel is as american as a B.L.T.

I’m still out here, man. Sorry I don’t always get to saying much lately.

I’ll also drop a thought here just because it relates to some stuff you’ve been saying recently—not because I think it’s always best, but because I often find it worth considering.

Honestly, I think working with editors and collaborators is one of the best ways to relieve stress and increase confidence in the stuff I’m working on as a whole. I mean, there’s a stress-bump when I’m working with someone new and I’m not as familiar with their feedback style. But it’s great being able to kick around questions like whether the story is reaching its full potential or whether there’s anything else I could do to improve its content or curb appeal. Even then, though, it’s often less about the outcomes and more about boosting my own confidence before I submit it.

So is Green Day, but they’re perhaps the most Liberal people I know of, and constantly trash the current leadership.

...

Let the politics begin.

You're not losing your touch as a writer. If anything you're slowly getting better. I have nearly as many dislikes on my story as likes. I hope the comments I leave help, or at least make you feel good. I know in depth comments always make me feel good.

and constantly trash the current leadership.

So do I. Everyone who follows me should be used to it by now.

Whatever Green Day is doing now is nothing compared to 15 years ago when I started listening to them. Interestingly enough, actually reading the lyrics of the two most political songs on American Idiot, they don't spend much effort attacking G.W.Bush -- whom I've always thought was smarter than people gave him credit for, though I still voted against him -- they were a million times harsher on the media.

Simon & Garfunkel were just as political in their day, maybe more so, but sounded less angry.

Oh yeah, American Idiot... that’s a good album, but it’s so political.

I really enjoy Revolution Radio, where they’re still attacking the political state, but mainly in the music/lyric videos.
