    Opportunity Bonus Chapter

Just a little update, in case people don't get the notification for some reason or another.

I've just released a little bonus chapter for My battery is low, and it's getting dark on account of the story's fifth anniversary.

Writing, Art, Game Development and other things

I’m really terrible at keeping everyone updated, aren’t I? I’m always so inconsistent with writing blog posts like these. Maybe that can be my belated New Year’s resolution. So, I’ve got a couple of things here.

    Who wants a free game?

So, if any of you can remember back to the distant past of early 2022, you might remember a blog post of mine where I announced the fact that was going self-employed as an indie game developer. (Because if I'm gonna work for idiots all my life, that idiot might as well be me.)

    The Big Announcement

First of all, Happy New Year to all of you, and I hope you have some time for me, because this blog will be a rather lengthy one. So get a beverage of your choice and sit back while you read this. There’s a few things that I want to cover here.

Hi, everyone. I just wanted to make a small blogpost about My battery is low, and it’s getting dark.

First of all, new chapter coming out THIS WEEK! Sunday at the latest, Pinkie Promise.

Alright, hopefully that'll have prevented anyone who immediately thought 'She's gonna cancel the story!' from having a heart attack. If you ARE having a heart attack anyway, please seek medical help right now before continuing to read. ... Go on, I'll wait ... Everyone good? Good.

Now, there's a couple of things I wanted to address. Mainly, you might remember this from one of the early author's notes:

I don't know what will happen with this story. It'll mostly be little vignettes around 1000 words, and I've got at least a couple of scenes planned out. But don't expect any grande story unfolding here.

Yeah, that's no longer the case. I have plotted out the story arcs I've set up now. So there is an overarching story here now, and I'm broadly gonna stick to that plan. It's part of the reason why there's been a rather large gap between the last chapter and this new one, because I've been plotting out the story as a whole rather than just the next chapter. (The other large part for the gap is that I've been waging an ongoing one-woman-war to save the software company I work at from bankruptcy for the past 2 months or so. But that's neither here nor there.)

So the plan is more or less set now, and I expect the story to come in at about 50k words when it's all said and done. At which point it will be finished.

However, and I'm not saying this is definitely happening but it's an option, I have left myself some wiggle room. As you might have noticed, there are some time gaps left open when you look at the mission day that is given in each Oppy chapter. So there's plenty of opportunity - see what I did there? :ajsmug: - in the future to have some more little standalone side stories, if and when inspiration strikes.

But I have plotted out the main story that I wanna stick to. And I do think and hope you're gonna like it. Because with the incredible reception it has gotten, I want to make this story feel succinct and complete when it's all said and done, to wrap it up in a satisfying manner that feels neither rushed nor artificially stretched out.

What does this mean for you as the reader? Nothing. All I want for you is to continue to read and enjoy the story. I just wanted to share where I'm currently at with it.

Oh ... but I do have a mystery tag on this story, don't I? So you might want to start to ponder the question: Who is Serendipity?:trollestia:
