Xehanort and his Thirteen Darknesses have gathered to do battle against either the Seven Guardians of Light or against the Seven Princesses of Heart to produce the almighty X-Blade, the all-powerful weapon that can summon Kingdom Hearts, the source of all.

To counter this threat to all things, Yen Sid has tasked Master’s Riku and Mickey Mouse to locate Master Aqua, who had been lost to the Realm of Darkness following her battle with Xehanort 13 years prior. With her help, they can find and rescue Ventus, whose body sleeps in Castle Oblivion and whose Heart sleeps in Sora, and Terra, who had been possessed by Xehanort and was the somebody for Ansem and Xemnas. At the same time, Kairi and Axel are given special training by the wizard Merlin so that they may become Keyblade Wielders proper.

Meanwhile, Sora has been tasked with regaining what he lost during the Mark of Mastery exam and to obtain the mysterious Power of Waking, a mysterious magic that can revive lost hearts. With Donald Duck and Goofy in tow, the trio travel to various worlds, spurned on by the promise to find a way to bring his Nobody Roxas, Kairi’s Nobody Namine, and the Replica Xion back to life, all the while being hounded by Organization XIII.

After 13 long years, for better or worse, the Second Keyblade War, which begun though a act of curiosity, would come to it’s final conclusion, but it’s end will open yet another struggle involving the long-lost warriors of the past…

and a mysterious box…
