Sun will be down for maintenance on Monday. Sorry for the inconvenience. --NASA

Here's a story by Estee you can read to take up the time until the Sun is all tuned up and returned to operation.

EA Total Eclipse Of The Fun
The second anniversary of the Return is approaching, and all Luna wants for the celebration is one thing -- something Equestria hasn't seen in more than a thousand years. This could be a problem.

    Big Leather Egg Sunday

A reminder (as John Cleese put it) that today is Big Leather Egg Sunday, and to celebrate, I'm linking the Best Football MLP story of all time by Kris Overstreet. Starring... Rarity?

    Goodbye Toby Keith, American Legend

Undoubtedly, if Toby Keith had ever done a tour in Equestria, Applejack would have been right there in the front row, whoopin' and a hollerin' as loud as possible. I think every high school in the US had a proud friendly guy like this, and we raise our red Solo cups in tribute to his last beer run. Salute!

New Year 2024- New Projects 1939

Still working on everything else this year, but I've got a sequel/prequel to Equestria: 1940 in the works, both a series of short stories set in the 1940 world up to the Equestrian moon project, and a war story showing some behind the scenes details about the war. For a little country the size of Ohio in the northern Atlantic, it has a lot of potential. Explosive, mostly. Snippets after the

Merry 2023 Hearth's Warming greetings and fic recommendations

Once again it's that time of year, when families gather around those we hold dear. Christmas is upon us, with words of good cheer, written below and organized here. I'm copying most of a previous blog of Hearth's Warming and recommended fics, so let's get started with a heart warming cartoon from Vivziepop, and the rest of recommendations below the break. (which I'm editing at the moment so it

Everfree NorthWest 2019 - The Aftermath · 6:16am May 20th, 2019

Three days of fun and frantic activity, summarized in reverse order with more to follow after decompression (cont).

Tuesday, I'm going home.
Tomorrow, I'm going to visit the Space Needle and other tourist things in the vicinity.
Today I got my picture taken with Cathy Weseluck (Voice of Spike)
--Bought entirely too much stuff in the vendor hall
--Got second place in a tie with Aquaman in the Iron Author competition (story to be posted soon)
Friday and Saturday ran all over the place, went to a bunch of panels, gave my New Author speech despite being petrified with fright.
--Oh, and competed in the Iron Author writing competition (as above)
Thursday drove straight from Salina to Kansas City International airport for my six hours worth of flights to Seattle by way of Phoenix to save money.

(Why TinyPic rotates these, I have no idea)

Or turns them upside-down like this picture of Aquaman and myself cheering our second place victory.

But still manages to keep them lined up right, as in this picture of one of the panels.

(For bonus points, identify the names of the people on the panel while I'm going to slee....)

Tomorrow, I play tourist. Anybody in town who wants to tag along or lead me, let me know!

It was good to see you!

Great to see you again, Georg! Have fun and be safe!

I believe you are being pictured by a tiny fighter jet doing barrel rolls. That's why the pictures are all different orientations.

It was great to see you again! Safe travels back home! :)

Get your blanky ready, you have yet to feel the aftermath of that fully operational convention. :twilightoops::eeyup:

Keep on enjoying. :pinkiehappy:

Dan

I assume one of those blokes is Admiral Biscuit?

I’ll keep you updated on our silly project.

Glad you had fun! Have a safe and fun trip!

I presume that must be Admiral Biscuit in the hat. I know that’s Vivid Syntax in one of the seats next to him! And this will certainly prove helpful at BronyCon as I seek the rare and majestic Georg in its natural habitat. :rainbowkiss:

(What? I’m sure I won’t be the only mook hoping for an “OMG IT’S GEORG” moment... but as the saying goes: there are many like it, but this one is mine?) :derpytongue2:

Sounds like your weekend was enjoyable, and the con was good. I hope your trip back is safe and successful as well! Definitely looking forward to hearing more when you feel up to posting it.

(And for some reason the pics look fine to me...) :rainbowhuh:

That second picture is perfect just the way it is.

The only panelist I recognize is Biscuit. :B

Space Needle!!!

Ducks!

As long as:

It's not space ducks with needles, I think you'll be OK.

Mike

Good cheesecake too if you don’t mind five bucks a bite

T'was excellent meeting you!

5061685

So...now...wait:

Are the ducks making the cheese? Or are they doing the biting? Because five dollars sounds like a lot of money to pay for a duck bite. Unless it's five dollars for duck bite insurance?

I think I may have become slightly confused... :twilightblush:

Mike

5061840 Was an absolute hoot meeting you also, as well as so many others that my poor brain is overloaded. I'm going to have to make flash cards :)

5061928 Well, technically the ducks are DUKW vehicles that they drive around and give tourists a (wait for it) tour of the vicinity, including the lake, because the vehicles work as boats too. It's really a hoot. Or a quack.

And then I spent a good part of the evening in the hot tub, because I'm tired....

It was a pleasure meeting you, and thank you for signing my straw hat.

Thanks for coming out to EFNW, Georg, and I hope you had a great weekend!

Glad you had a great time Georg! Only regret I didn’t get to chat with you much!

And home! Yea team! And back to work. Boo team. :)

Firstly, it was great meeting and talking with you at EFNW, and here's hoping I'll at least get to say "hi" at Bronycon. I'll wear the good Admiral's shirt around at some point, so we'll probably cross paths.

Secondly, I think the pictures has something to do with mobile devices. I checked this page last night on my tablet and everything looked fine, but here on desktop things are rotated as you say. If I had to hazard a guess, I'd say that, with the pictures being taken on a phone, there's some metadata in there that tells other phones/tablets which way the picture is supposed to be rotated, but non-mobile devices don't read that metadata and thus it comes out rotated.

(Also, I'm going to try tackling the Travelling Tutor in the coming weeks, but I'd love being directed to a list of what all is in that third book to go check out the stories ahead of time. Obviously I'm planning on getting a copy of Drifting Down the Lazy River.)

5064260 That... is quite possible, and something I didn't think of. Computers are so smart they're dumb at times.

Hm, a list of all that's in that third book, The Traveling Tutor and the Royal Exam. I will admit it's technically my third or fourth OC shipping story with Crosswind and Papercut (the infamous CrossCut ship)

Her future husband was being unusually quiet as they climbed and descended the trails, comparing leaves and pine cones to the genus and species in the reference book she had brought along. Greenie had always complained, in a warm way, about her ability to read him like a book, and he seemed to be stuck on one of her favorite chapters this afternoon: Teaching a Simple Lesson Isn’t Working.

“Worried about Papercut?” she finally asked while sticking a leaf in her book for later drying and pressing.

“Both of them, actually. They’re a couple of puzzle pieces that I’m not sure really belong together, but I’ll be schnooked if I’m going to get between them after all the effort they’re expending to keep us apart. I think it’s the same darned thing that Princess Celestia was trying to un-teach me about my parents controlling my life coming back to bite me in the cutie mark. My whole life I’ve tried to keep other ponies from making my decisions for me, and now those two make me just want to reach out and—” Green Grass held his front two hooves apart, and then smacked them together with a popping noise from his new HighPeaks climbing shoes.

“They’re going to have to make their own decision and mistakes,” said Twilight with a smirk as she watched Green Grass’ tail twitch.

“But what if they choose wrong? Oh, fiddlesticks.” He harrumphed and kicked a pine cone down the brushy slope they had just ascended. “I’m turning into my father.”

Sorry, I didn't make myself clear -- when I said "third book" I meant the anthology book you've made for the... I think Aquaman just called it the Golden Oaks Bookstore? I will definitely be getting the Lazy River book, and I'm going to try to read the Travelling Tutor story before Bronycon to decide if I want one, but I'm not sure I even remember which stories of that anthology book I've read, and I would find it useful to have a list of which stories are in that book.

Sorry if I made it sound like I was asking for spoilers.
