Finale Incoming: Once Per Week · 5:52am May 15th, 2019
I've decided to do Featherfall's release once per week over the next couple weeks. The first chapter of the finale comes out tomorrow ladies and gentlemen, we are finally here.
It feels so odd to be saying that too. I'm not really certain how to feel about bringing Featherfall to a close after almost a full year of solid updates 1-2 a week. I can't even begin to express to those of you who have been with me since the beginning and to all of you who have joined us along the way. Thank you so much for sticking with me to read all about Gilda and Sunset's adventures, their romance, and their drama. I'm honestly not sure I'm ready for Featherfall to end, it's such a strange feeling for it to be just... done, y'know? But that won't stop me from giving my best girls their happily ever after.
When I began this I knew it was probably going to be the crackiest of crack ships for most people. I mean, c'mon guys, GildaxSunset? That's... sort of absurd objectively speaking. The idea of Featherfall was, quite literally, born from the sole desire to see Gilda portrayed as something other than a one-dimensional villain. I wanted her to be more than just the brow-beating thug that almost every other Anon-A-Miss story, and really almost every EQG story where she appears, depicts her as. Featherfall has been a driving, motivating force in my life for a year and you've all been there with me through it.
As some of you know, when I say it was a motivating force I mean I wrote feverishly. In a prior blog post, I admitted that I was writing out close to 15,000 words per week for a good while. I was not only writing but editing an entire chapter's worth of content every week, which was why I eventually chose to move to a once per two weeks posting rather than continue my prior punishing pace.
I know the tone of Featherfall has changed a little since the beginning, growing from a simple romance and drama between Sunset and Gilda, following Sunset's recovery, both mentally and physically, from the trauma of her injury and from losing her friends, to something almost like an adventure story, with elements of mystery, thrill, and a lot of other genres. The inspiration for that honestly comes heavily from MLP itself, because every season has its adorable slice of life elements, but always ends some big, magical, climactic conclusion. It feels like following that same general trend is in keeping with the spirit of the source material.
In end, I'm incredibly excited to reach the end of this journey with you all. Thank you so, so much.
Cheers,
I-A-M
Like Endgame, I'm not emotionally ready for this!
My, nearly a year? Has it really been that long?
You're welcome, and congratulations. :)
Looking forward to it!
I have not gotten back into this story for a while, but I’ll make sure to catch up. I’m hoping for a sequel or at least a spinoff.
This story has been quite the emotional roller coaster. Needless to say, I’m looking forward to seeing how it ends.
