The reason I write is because I want to read a story written for myself. One day, I want to read one of my own stories and say to myself "That is the best story I have ever read."

    Merry Christmas

So to start off, I wish a heartfelt and sincere Merry Christmas to everybody, or Happy Holidays for those who do not celebrate.

Of course, I know that the feeling of needing to be happy at this time is quite taxing. I see it a lot in my day job doing social work. To those, I do wish that at least your hardships be soothed for a short period of time.

Possible way to save Game of Thrones Season 8 (from an observer's humble opinion)? · 2:48am May 14th, 2019

I really honestly shouldn't be making this blog post as I've had no time to catchup to Game of Thrones and watch all the episodes... but I can think up of one way DB and Weiss can pull this together that... I hope to god they will try this route because people are already unhappy as hell.

First of all, Spoiler Alert. If you don't care or know, then continue.

Have Daenerys surrender the throne to John Snow after some self reflection and looking at the horror she's caused.

Seriously. Have her realize she doesn't deserve the throne and show that compassion that's the other side of her. Have her in a moment of horrified lucidity, realize that her advisors and the people she respects/respected are disappointed in her actions. Have her decide, "I can't fix this, but I can prevent it from being worse." End her character arc on a good moment, have her fly away with the Dothraki and Unsullied to Slavers Bay to where she's actually had her success, and have Jon and company pick up the pieces.

I hope the writers of GOT try this, because going with what seems like a mad targaryen route is making the show look like a slow motion train wreck.

Edit: To make things clear... I don't like Daenerys going mad, but I can understand why they chose it. I can also see there are issues as to how they executed it, but that's not what I'm addressing. I'm attempting to propose a possible solution that would satisfy those who are so annoyed at the Daenerys going mad route without papering it's consequences over. To some extent, i'm also hedging my bets and sometimes i feel like I have eh opinion on the route GOT is going... i kinda need to finish watching the season after all.

My issue isn't the result; my issue is the fact that the result happened near instantaneously. I think it's perfectly reasonable for Dani to become a Mad Queen, but just having her snap like that after the Lannister army fucking surrendered and threw down their weapons after some bells? That just looked stupid. Also, those Scorpions? And Euron? Also stupid. There's no consistency with those. One moment they can snipe a dragon miles in the sky but in the next they can't hit the biggest one right in front of them. The whole fight between Jaime and Euron was pointless as well. It just...accomplished nothing for either of their characters. What I wanted since the end of last season was for Jaime to kill Cersei and save the realm like he did in Robert's Rebellion. But instead they just get crushed by a rock. Arya's horse was stupid, too. Arya surviving when no one else did is pushing it as it is, but a random mostly uninjured horse in the middle of the city?

How do actually know whether or not Cersi is actually dead? The episode cut off at that point. Usually villians dont die that quietly so I suggest that you reserve your gripes on Cersi's potential death for the next episode.

We've seen signs of Danerys's increasing madness throughout the show, she's lost many people close to her including her personal guard who sacrificed himself to protect her from the Undead.

Another of her close friends and right hand was brutally executed right in front of her as a statement against Danerys's warnings. This is the biggest reason imo why Danerys flew into insanity and why the Unsullied bald guy attacked the surrendering Lannister soldiers.

Her reign over the kingdom challenged potentially with the realization that John is the actual heir to the Iron Throne.

She lost most of her "children"; one became an undead slave to the Night King and the other to a shot by Lannister Scorpions.

All of these are recipes for a fucked up disposition and suddenly when all she's worked for and all the unheeded warnings are ignored... "after, the blood and death caused by Cersi, she wants to surrender now?"

Yeah. A big recipe. Still doesnt justify the massive war crimes committed by her but this is her thought process.

Also, I'm pretty sure Danerys learned her lesson from two of her children dying from stray, heavy projectiles. You assume that a human is incapable of adapting to repeat situations?

The Scorpion gunners' skills remained the same, Danerys improved and used the full agility and potential of Drogon to deadly effect. She learned.

Honestly a silly thing to get peeved over...

I fully expected her to execute Cersei given the opportunity. On paper, Daenerys' descent into madness seems fine, but I don't think it translated well on-screen. And do you really think Jaime and Cersei are still alive? The roof collapsed on them. We also saw the Cleganes fall from the Red Keep into the fires below, and while we didn't see their dead bodies, I'm pretty sure they're dead too. And honestly? That's what bothered me the least. I think it's a perfectly valid end to the characters, but I just would have preferred something a little more...poetic. I think it would have been good for Jaime's character arc, and so I was a little disappointed.

Oh there's no doubt that the Mountain is dead. I personally found that fight to be poetic... the Hound lived his whole life wanting to kill the Mountain and was willing to go to any lengths to do it.

Even if it meant killing himself. He warned Arya that living a life clouded in revenge did him no good and it showed in that fight.

All I'm saying is that we should wait to the final episode to see whether or not Cersi died or Jamie stole her through the secret passage way that Tyrion told him about to start a new life with her.

I hate incest but it'd be like a "fuck you" to Danerys and Arya. That would have significant poeticism. That in the end, Cersi got what she wanted which was her child surviving and the seven kingdoms stuck with an impending civil war over their heads between Dany and Jon.

...the passage was caved in. We saw that. Jaime was taking Cersei down the way Tyrion told him and once they got passed the dragon skulls, the exit was blocked by rubble. Then the roof collapsed as they were holding each other. So how would they survive that?

I also have next to no issues with Cleganebowl. I thought it was a great fight that just ended a little strangely. Having the Hound and the Mountain fall into a raging fire below like a Disney villain is a little odd for the show in my opinion. Doesn't detract from the overall scene, though.

And there wouldn't be a civil war. Daenerys's supporters are only the Unsullied and the Dothraki. Her Westerosi allies rely entirely on her claim to the throne, of which Jon has the stronger claim. It'd just be the North vs. Dani's army and Drogon.

Good point. Well we'll just wait and see I guess. Who knows?

At least we can both agree that Tyrion's fate remains unclear and he could've stopped it if he didnt act like a jittery dwarf who was taking secrets, spreading them and then betraying the bald guy. His actions really pissed me off to be honest but people do stupid things, though.
