[NEW FIC] Back to writing ponies! (...sorta)

tl;dr - I put ponies in another fic, but only for a few chapters

So, real quick, minor confession...this fic is actually one of my oldest, and it's not on this site.

Hey, easy, easy, let me explain.

[UPDATE] It's like being nibbled to death by cats

This chapter is a straight up continuation of the previous chapter, and there's literally zero time skip, unlike most of my chapters in this fic. So much so, in fact, that what had originally been two separate chapters (Gilda fights Sunset, sleepover happens) had to be combined into one because the "Gilda fights Sunset" chapter was going to be too long. It was during the

[UPDATE] Yes, you saw that right, new chapter

Not much to say about this one that the notes at the bottom of the chapter itself don't already say. Obviously, my health is much better and my sleep is improving to the point where I'm not having to take medication for it nearly as often. Work is going pretty good (I'll post about that at some point, it deserves its own post) and I've gotten HYPER into The Lost Tomb, which if you haven't read it

[UPDATE] When you get medical confirmation...

So I've said in my rather sporadic updates that I've been going through a lot, and I believe I've mentioned that the things that have been happening have been rather more draining on the ol' spoons than I otherwise expected.

    [UPDATE] Egad, some activity?!

Yes! I am still plugging away at [REDACTED], it's just somewhat slow going due to life reasons. I'm starting to accept that I'm just never going to be as outlandishly productive as WandererD or n7punk, and I'm working on being okay with that.

[THE LIST] This isn't the usual List post · 10:56pm May 11th, 2019

This list is not about my favorite stories of all time. That's my favorites list and one of these days I may get around to writing reviews of those fics.

The List is about stand-out, in-progress works that deserve more love, for whatever reason. In addition to general reviews of the fics, these blog posts will tell why I picked a particular story and highlight any features the reader should look out for. Spoilers will be appropriately marked, so you'll be able to read my reviews with confidence that you'll be able to read the story itself and experience the same surprise and delight I did when I first found it.

Also, authors and fans of works will be able to submit stories. Your particular selection may not make it onto the list, and the more information you give me for why you think it should be featured, the more likely I'll be to read and post it. To submit a fiction, simply PM me through FiMFiction's link on my profile.

The list can be found here: Princess Columbia's List

What if Princess Celestia made one last attempt to reconcile with Sunset Shimmer after the Mirror Portal opened up and Sunset fled through it?

Princess Columbia's Synopsis
Princess Celestia makes a slightly different choice when her student Sunset Shimmer disappears through the portal to the human world. Instead of leaving things be, she goes through the portal as well...and is stranded on the other side for 30 moons. Now she's having to adapt to having the body of a high-school student and finds herself in a chess match of mystical proportions with Sunset Shimmer, who has aligned herself directly opposed to Celestia, and in the background the Sirens are making moves. Meanwhile, the cessation of regular celestial cycles has resulted in Nightmare Moon being released from her imprisonment early, and now Princess Cadance and Prince Blueblood must play a dangerous game of keeping a despot that could destroy the world from throwing a temper tantrum while keeping the populous of Equestria from finding out and throwing a revolution all while keeping Equestria's neighbors from taking advantage of the situation.

Why am I highlighting this fic?
Normally I post something to this list as a way of showing the author that people are reading and enjoying their work. A, "Hey, look, you have readers and they appreciate what you're doing with this!" kinda thing.

In this case, though, it's a memorial. A way to remember the life and works of a writer who's creativity and influence was felt online long before FiM was even a proposition by Hasbro, let alone the entertainment juggernaut it is today. (Seriously, we Bronies helped rewrite our culture's definition of "manly!")

I first encountered MythrilMoth's work under the pseudonym of The Eternal Lost Lurker. Under that banner he penned dozens (if not hundreds!) of high quality fics for the anime and sci-fi fandoms. From simple one-shots to epic journeys and from the most basic of day-in-the-life to the most citrusy lemon-scented erotica. Between all the various fandoms, his loss is a pretty heavy blow, and made all the more tragic in that he didn't really do much to toot his own horn. I had no idea that I'd read dozens of his works already when I stumbled onto his FiMFiction stuff, I just knew I liked what I was reading and that I wanted more. I didn't realize that it was not just good, it was familiar in ways that I wouldn't realize until after his death.

So with that, on with the fic review/recommendation/commentary.

What makes this fic particularly good?
It does things that you wouldn't expect with characters that you wouldn't expect, and uses the best of all "elseworlds" style tropes...for want of a nail...

Who would like this fic?
Honestly, if you don't like this fic, I don't know how you can be helped and I feel sorry for you.

In memory of Robert Morrison, may you finally find what you've been looking for.

An excellent choice for a tribute. I'm going to need to go through his catalogue for an RCL nomination.

Cheer Princess was one of the first stories I read after finding fimfiction. Mores the pity it’ll never be finished along with all his other ongoing stories. Moth had a lot of good ideas and made excellent stories out of them. He will be missed.
