    IN WHICH HAPPY BOXING DAY!
I meant to post while it was still Christmas (CST) but as usual I’m late. I hope my few remaining readers had a lovely holiday! Here’s a song that’s been in my head lately.

Chuu is one of those who, according to her coworkers, really is just a ball of sunshine. Follow me past the jump.

    IN WHICH I LACK BURRITOS
No, really. I haven’t been by my local burrito place in a long time, partly due to my mother, so I haven’t been able to get good inspiration for another Burritoverse story. Sorry. For now, enjoy my favorite J-Pop group NiziU.

    IN WHICH SCREW DEADLINES
Hey, y’all. Been a few months. Whoever reads this, just wanted to show I’m not dead yet. Do you know NMIXX? You should.

Right. Now, where was I? Oh, I’m sure I’ll figure it out below the jump.

IN WHICH I LIED TO YOU (SORRY)
So… Turns out it's been a full year (!) since my last story. I promised a couple stories in between but failed to finish them. But at least I got my annual Mayor Mare story in. Have some Twice as penance.

More past the jump, if you're willing.

IN WHICH I LIVE… SORT OF
Hi. Been awhile. Not sure who's left to read this. I just now realized I accidentally added an "L" on my last 3 posts. Oops. Well, enjoy Sir Elton.

So, after fixing my screw-up, let's get to the meat of why I'm writing, if you'll pass the jump with me.

IN WHICH DAMMIT BABYMETAL
I was hoping to use this blog to wax nostalgic about a certain writer, but that's going to have to wait. Have song.

Now that your mind is blown, onto the blog. I'ma try to keep it short this time.

Why the title? Because Babymetal just announced a whole friggin' tour across the USA leading up to their performance at the LA Forum in October. One of the tour dates is in Kansas City and another is in Dallas. As it happens, the KC show is at the exact same venue I went to last year, where lead singer Suzuka Nakamoto seems to believe they suffered one of their greatest defeats -- she said in an interview last month that she felt something was really off about that show.

What was off was that they were down a member and their manager didn't make that critical information public beforehand, so a lot of fans felt let down and a few (mostly the superfans) were ticked off.

Even though Suzuka didn't arrange the tour venues or dates, I can't help but think she wouldn't mind returning to that old theatre to prove herself to the fans she might feel she let down one year ago, now that the personnel situation is resolved.

The Kansas City show is on a Monday (arriving the day before means I can get the half-a-chicken special at the BBQ place I like and also some amazing doughnuts and Japanese food day-of).

The Dallas show is the very next night (girls & band probably have to sleep on the tour bus). I'm not familiar with the venue, but I do know it's standing-room only, which prevents an older friend of mine from attending, with a capacity of nearly 4,000.

For their sake, I really hope the upcoming album is good. While I've enjoyed the songs released for it thus far, I'm concerned about the shortness. "Distortion" was three minutes almost exactly. "Elevator Girl", which just dropped and I linked, is 2:45. "Tattoo" isn't much longer. Assuming the standard Babymetal album is 12-13 songs and that all songs are as short, that's less than forty minutes worth of new material. You could literally fit all that on a single traditional 33rpm record. And I imagine folks would feel like, "We waited three and a half years for THIS?!"

Plus the tour schedule is brutal. I hope Moa the adorable little dynamo is physically up to it.

It's a gamble. And I hope it pays off.

Oh, and with luck I should have the Mayor Mare story finished by hopefully the end of the weekend. I made a lot of progress last night.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go watch PassCode. You should too because they're fuckin' awesome.

Peace out.
