"I am pretty sure I am misunderstanding the description, and I don't really agree with Urban Dictionary here, but here is how I interpret The Gloomer.
Unlike The Doomer, who continuously spirals even deeper into the void of hopelessness, The Gloomer has some hope left, even if it is very little. Also to contrast with The Doomer, who can not find anything really worthwhile to care for in life except the most über depressing media they can find to help them face the void, The Gloomer finds beauty within the melancholy and explores it, rather than cling to it as a comforting security blanket that The Doomers so often use it as.
In short, Gloomers are more interested in exploring the darkness in order to find beauty, fulfillment of some kind, or something similar. Whereas Doomers never find any joy or meaning in the darkness and are subsequently consumed by it.
