The Future of Commissions · 7:04pm May 1st, 2019
It's no secret that I do commissioned stories from time to time. It's no secret that these stories are often some of my favorites to work on. Due to the sheer spectrum of likes and ideas had by my followers, I often end up with a premise or idea I never would have come to on my own. So, in that way, I love the idea of working with someone to take their idea and give it shape (the money ain't bad, either).
But, if you've commissioned me before, you probably know that I'm incredibly slow and easily bogged down. I have a tendency to bite off more than I can chew, and even in the best case scenario, there's no preparing for a depressive downswing that could hit me at any time, without warning. I don't want to turn this into a pity party, or to try to use my condition as an excuse for my unprofessional behavior. I simply want all the facts to be out there, so you understand my decision and the path that led me to it.
The sad truth is that, while I genuinely enjoy doing commissions, I think it has to stop. It's not good for the clients, who are essentially throwing money into a void in the hopes that they eventually get a return on their investment, and it's really not good for me. No joke, the thought of how long I've taken to get some of these commissioned stories written have given me panic attacks.
I really wish this wasn't the case, but I'm afraid that commissions are going to be closed for the foreseeable future. Sorry if you were waiting on an open slot, but I have to be honest with myself, and understand and recognize my limitations. Currently, upholding such a direct responsibility is outside of my capabilities. I'll still be pumping out fics, don't worry about that, but I don't think I can keep up this cycle of potentially disappointing someone nice enough to try to pay me for my work.
I hope to someday be back to wicked ways, but as it stands right now... Commissions are closed. For good.
It sucks but hey I understand. Do what you got to do.
You take care of you, Lewd. It's completely understandable.
Sad to hear it, but I understand. For what it's worth, I was super happy with both the speed and quality of the piece I commissioned a few months back. Hope you're able to get back on your feet!
Well, I was glad to have the stories commissioned. Thank you. :)
DAMN!
As far as the spectrum of ideas goes, you could always make a dump blog for fans to leave suggestions in. That way you still get the inspiration without the pressure.
