[STATUS UPDATE] When God takes a sledgehammer to your life... · 3:48pm Apr 18th, 2019
...break out the incendiary lemons.
So while I'm not quite back to full "everything is good and I've got a path charted for my life" status, I'm doing much better and am able to set something resembling a routine. This means that I'm able to open up some of the fics I've been reading and actually put some creative thought to ideas that have been bubbling in my mind and the ongoing projects that I have on my docket.
I'll be working on some stuff with my new live-in girlfriend (...I absolutely have no interest in Five Nights fanfics, but she gave me the puppy-dog eyes and I crumbled like a house made of wet paper towels in a water balloon fight), but I'll be getting back to the projects that have been gathering dust for the last couple months soon.
In the meantime, I came up with a couple of new ideas for fanfics that might wind up seeing the light of day once I get A Hive of Queens, Fallen Star, and The Fastest Pony in Equestria up to chapter 5, depending on Patreon and Fanfiction Friday voting.
And so, for your edification (if not entertainment), two new fanfiction ideas for the pile:
The Accidental Librarian - (Crossover: The Accidental Paranormals/The Librarians) - Patricia runs a used bookstore in a wonderful building that is adjacent to the New York Metropolitan Library and she got the building itself for a song. On the second anniversary of her store's opening, she managed to secure a book signing by none other than renowned Paranormal Romance author Wanda Schwartz-Jefferson.
Meanwhile, Rob has just been honorably discharged from the Marines, having been exposed to some defunct chemical WMDs while serving his last tour in the Middle East, and no matter how physically well his fitness tests show he is, procedure says that he gets pink slipped. He's dedicated his life to serving the higher calling of defending people that he doesn't know what to do with is life. On a whim, he decides to check out a bookstore that happens to be open late...and are those ninjas?
On the other side of the country, but also just a quick doorway away, the Codex alerts Eve Baird and her Librarian charges, Jacob, Cassandra, and the Ezekiel Jones, to an attack on a bookstore...that looks exactly like the Library Annex.
Patricia and Rob are about to be introduced to the wild and (sometimes) hairy world of the Supernatural, while the Librarians will have to fight their well honed training and instincts to not slay the vampires and werewolves, no matter how many times the vampire calls them "fucktard," and the girls of OOPs have to wade into (again) the life of a person who just the day prior was blissfully unaware of the existence of their kind and bring their usual charm and flair to patch up the poor client's life.- Author's notes: This one is a bit of a fun little drabble I came up with while binge watching The Librarians on Hulu at home while bing-reading/listening to the series "The Accidental Paranormals" by Dakota Cassidy. Fortunately for my desire to do a crossover, the vampire lore of the two different series is compatible. Quick note to those looking to pick up "The Accidental Paranormals" series...it's kinda cheap, trashy
girl-pornromance and the author really likes the word "cock." The skill level of the author is...good, but honestly I've read better fanfics. The fundamental premise, though, is wonderful and the characters are endearing enough to keep me coming back every time a new novel is released.

The Littlest Wolf-slayer - (Crossover: My Little Pony - Friendship is Magic - Equestria Girls/Urban Fairytales) - The mirror portal to the human world only opens for three days once every thirty moons...and thank all that is good and holy for that, for when a rebellious Sunset Shimmer flees through it, she doesn't find a high school full of pony parallels, she's immediately picked up off the street and rushed to a silver-lined shelter for the "clean bloods" that live outside the werewolf-impervious city walls, and the first night of the monthly Wolf Moon has just begun. Trapped in a world under siege from the lycan curse, by the time the portal re-opens she doesn't return to Equestria as a thief in the night, but in a desperate plea for aid. She's become one of the Avatars, the strongest, most powerful defenders of humanity against the very forces of Hell itself...and something even more deadly and powerful, and the Avatars alone may not be able to stop it. While the other Avatars search the other realms, Sunset returns home to enlist the aid of the most powerful being she knows...which will means confronting the past she left behind.
- Author's notes: This one will be a challenge, as both EQG and Urban Fairytales are ongoing works. If you're interested in Urban Fairytales, I do highly recommend it, but be aware that as a self-published series the author could really use an editor, especially as each book approaches the end and the last couple of books had some pacing issues. The core concepts are solid, and even with some of the other "gritty" retellings of fairytales I don't think I've ever come across a concept like Urban Fairytales. "Little Red Riding Hood" being the original werewolf slayer, Snow White as a paramilitary sniper and retrieval agent, Cinderella's magical curse turning her whole body and her clothing into living glass and giving her the strength of The Hulk, the protagonist of the Sleeping Beauty story being not the evil witch who cast the spell, the rescuer of the sleeping woman, or the sleeping woman, but the source of the bramble vines that enshrine the sleeper...Rapunzel being a witch hunter is practically an anti-climax after all that...and just wait until you get to the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. I think there's only one entry into the series that really disappointed me, and only because there were so many lost plotline opportunities.
Expect more soon, but no promises on timeline just yet.
Nice to know. Please take care.
