Finally a show that kind of gets me · 5:33am Apr 15th, 2019
Yes, yes, I know I was going to write some story stuff but I was hanging out with my family and then my mom got bored and then Netflix trawling she found this odd little show on there called Special- and it's weird finding representation outside of like Breaking Bad for Cerebral Palsy stuff and hey it has the main character also be gay as well. So like it doubly hits me (well besides me being slightly different on the LGBT spectrum) it's like finding a show that hits all the stuff I often deal with in my real life- the inadequacy and being in this odd space of being like almost too able bodied for having a disability and yet too disabled for normal people and besides the plot being about his want to become a blogger and writer and all that-
It's like the creator (and lead actor) opened his mouth and got the closest to what I'm often dealing with or feeling on a daily basis.
Yes this is rambly, but I don't often find a thing that so closely mirrors my own experience in a fun but relate-able way.
But just in case- this series is rated Mature on Netflix- I think mainly for like some brief nudity and language and at one point drug use but like the whole first season is like two full hours long with each episode being 12-17 minutes long so think of it like a movie split into a season and it kind of works except the normal next season cliffhanger. Which I hope they make season 2 cause even though it came out 3 days ago, I want more of it cause it's fun and cute and relatable and all that. Though there's some dark stuff that happens at the end, so like it's rather got me interested in more.
