What Bothers Me · 3:35am Apr 10th, 2019
What bothers me the most is when some dislikes, your story but yet does not leave a comment on what they disliked about the story or even give a reason why they disliked it in the first place. What could help is putting a reason why they disliked it or helpful advice to tell the author on what aspect that could be improved upon. And not just disliking because they just don't like it. Or are just disliking to be rude or disrespectful. But sadly this is the Internet and some people are just rude and know they can get away with it. Look all I ask is that when you dislike something actually think about why you disliked it and if you think it can help the author approve then put a comment down of your opinion.
It would be nice if people did that, yes, but alas, some don't. The Internet is filled with assholes and jerks, and they can get away with being assholes and jerks because, hey, it's the Internet.
Seriously, I had two stories that went years without getting any dislikes, until I wrote a journal mentioning that. Next thing I knew, bam, both had a dislike. If that's not proof of what I'm saying, I don't know what is.
Unexplained downvotes are ultimately meaningless. How are you supposed to know what they didn’t like about it unless they tell you? Even if it’s superficial reasons like the tags, characters (God forbid someone write an unusual ship or a romance story that isn’t just mindless clop ((this actually happened to a friend of mine on the site)), premise alone, etc., something would be better than nothing, barring blatant flaming. But alas all you can do is just move on. Just ignore unexplained downvotes because if whoever left it can’t be bothered to give a reason then why should you care what they think?
You two both prove very good points it was just something I noticed over the amount of time I have been on the site for. This just was something that I have seen a lot of the time but I do thank you for putting your own opinion over the matter.
