SAPR Rewrite Volume 3 Cover by MRK50

In another sign of how overly optimistic I once was about how long it would take me to get through this rewrite, back in January 2021 I had a cover for Volume 3 done by MRK50, whose absence from the fandom since then is much lamented. With the new phase of the story due to start on Monday, I can finally share it with you all:

Shameless shilling of my non-MLP fics

Those of you who enjoy SAPR, but who possibly find it a bit too big, a bit too slow, or those of who you don't have any problems with it at all but would like to read more RWBY fics from me may be interested in a couple of new fics that I've started fairly recently without any MLP elements.

Team SAPR and Fluffy by Tianshiko

A little over a year ago I commissioned this artwork of Team SAPR, the stuffed beowolf and mascot of Benni Havens'; the artist, the very talented Tianshiko, had some health issues and wasn't able to work on it for a long time, but now they've finished it and I hope you'll all agree that it was worth the wait.

    On the future of SAPR

So... when I first started rewriting SAPR I told everyone that it would not impede the forward movement of the story. I never kept that promise exactly as I intended it at the time that I made it, but I never exactly broke it either.

    Until now.

Signal Boost for Clockwork2003 - Urgent Help needed

So, I was contacted by another author today, Clockwork2003, who find himself in a position that we, unfortunately, may all find ourselves in at some point in our lives: getting the dreaded cancer diagnosis.

Grimm Eclipse Needs an Easy Mode · 3:47pm Apr 7th, 2019

So, in preparation for covering the Grimm Eclipse content in SAPR I thought that it might be a good idea for me to actually play RWBY: Grimm Eclipse and my God is it a slog to get through in single player (if the intent was to vividly bring home why huntsmen are assigned to four-man teams: good job!); even in normal difficulty...okay, I'm not the best gamer in the world but it doesn't seem right that such a simple button masher should be so difficult. How is it that beowolves are so tough? Beowolves!

So far, Pyrrha (I've decided that since this is for the benefit of SAPR, I should only use Pyrrha, Jaune, Ruby or Blake) has died four times trying to defend the control centre at the end of the first mission, and went on to die again to the boarbatusks and again shortly after clearing the bridge in mission two; Ruby has died twice against the boarbatusks in mission two and something ridiculous like five times waiting for the bridge to extend.

So...yeah, at this rate I won't be anything close to finishing the campaign by the time I get around to that point in the fic.

I've beat it solo as Pyrrah and Ren and it is that hard.

Want some help? I had considered buying it, but heard it’s really meant to be played co-op. We could meet up on Steam to go at it.

Would you be interested in joining us?

I thought about getting one of the RWBY games, but I've heard it is kinda really hard. Why not just watch playthroughs on youtube? That's what I usually do for a game that is out of reach.

5040372 I have the PS4 version. And I'm not that interested in co-op anyway.

5040373
That was my first thought, but I've struggled to find any good ones.

There's also the issue that, when you watch a playthrough, you're usually watching for the player, not the game. I watch Markiplier videos every now and again, and I would never play any of the horror games he plays like Five Nights at Freddys but I watch for Markiplier and his funny voices and hilarious reactions and high-pitched screaming.

If you're actually trying to work out what's going on in the game then the LPers are a bit distracting, especially when they talk over the dialogue.

I try to avoid let's plays, and just focus on the silent playthroughs. I dont have many story games that I watch, but I did it with Red Dead and Spiderman.

A part of me is surprised there arent any good ones, RWBY seems really popular- even if the games aren't that great.

5040387 They need to either make an expansion explaining what happened to Merlot after he escaped or make a sequel where you finally defeat him.

5040390
Not gonna lie, outside of fan art and SAPR, I legit don't follow RWBY at all. Just never been a fan of that style of animation / CGI.

5040395 At the end of Grimm Eclipse the antagonist escapes as his hidden lab self-destructs, you don't hear anything about him after that only that he's still alive out there somewhere experimenting on Grimm.

Scipio, do you have Grimm Eclipse on Steam?

5040499
Yes, I do, and it probably would be easier if I had some help with it. I'm British, so I'm not sure whether there'd be a time we'd both be awake and available, but I wouldn't mind giving it a try.

I have RWBY Grimm Eclipse, I will play it with you if you want

England is 6 hours ahead of me in the Chicago suburbs. I'm not sure how late you're up on weekdays, so we could just arrange something on a Saturday or Sunday. The priority is that you get to experience the content, so if you figure out what timezone Spriggs118 is in, maybe they could help.

It is meant for coop play and to show that it is hard to be huntsman. If you want to get a squad to play I'm game. And I'm same timezone as dragon turtle.

That's so very kind of all of you, and to be honest I could certainly use the help. Would it be okay if I PM'd you all about it later?

5041596
Sure. But I need to warn you that I haven’t played it either. So I could try soloing some content just to figure out what controls are this week. Is it best to play it with an Xbox controller than a keyboard? Because I have one of those and a receiver.

5041832
Depends on what you are more comfortable with, If you have more experience with a controller than use it.
5041596
Sure thing.
