An Incomplete Recap Of S9E01 · 4:37pm Apr 6th, 2019
I was away from a TV, so I tried to stream the premiere. I was forced to read the Brony Nation chat while Spazz lived up to its name and lagged in the background because those were the only two things that worked for me.
All I have to go off of are random snippets of audio, quick flashes of animation, and a chat that spent the whole time flickering in and out of existence.
From what I did hear, the episode was okay. Best out of the past three season premieres, I heard someone say.
But like I said before, I had barely any idea what was going on. But here's what I do know:
Got to see and hear Grogar for a few seconds. I think I prefer a handful of the fan designs I saw, but he was cool.
Got to hear Sombra. His voice wasn't as cool. It wasn't too much of an annoyance, though.
The chat was cheering on Sombra when he captured Flurry. I'm not as pissed off about her as everyone else is (a benefit of being a late arrival, I suppose), so that reaction seemed disproportionate.
They dealt with the Flurry Heart situation pretty quickly. Good for them.
And continuing MLP's timeless tradition of tree-related tragedies, the Tree and Elements died. Somehow. No idea when and how we got back to the Everfree.
And then Spazz skipped around for a bit. Or maybe it was the Part 1 recap at the start of Part 2? Hell if I know.
Then a mind control sequence with some idiot ball moments. Not sure how idiotic they are because I had to rely on the chat's description.
Ponies got mind controlled, or died, or... something??? No clue.
KKGourmet told Twilight to "stop sucking". CurtainCall wanted them to call Captain Marvel. N9ne Ball announced a "Weed Whacker Adventure".
Then Celestia and Luna showed up and did... something? The Pillars were there too. And Discord showed up.
The chat said something about Pickle Rick from Rick And Morty. Did Discord turn into a pickle?
And then Discord died!? Sombra actually killed him!!!???
The Fluttercord people must've lost their f'ing minds. Me included.
According to the chat, pep talks, title drops, and magical rainbow beams ensued. Sombra got, to quote the chat, "Thanos'd".
Ok, never mind, Discord's alive. He was just faking so he could teach them a lesson. "Best teacher ever", the chat declared.
Dramatic laugh from Grogar, then credits.
...And that was the story of my first and only premiere alongside a MLP season.
All in all, fun times.
