Okay, so… I guess I have news or something to talk about, past the jump if you'll join me…
As most of y'all probably didn't know, I posted the third half of my annual Mayor Mare story yesterday morning. Regrettably, I still haven't posted -- or even written -- the payoff. Although anyone who has read my previous works about the Mayor should have a pretty good idea of what's going to happen once she and the rest of Cadance's entourage reaches the border.
I'm SO sorry about my inactivity lately. I don't really have an adequate explanation for it or even an excuse. So instead, I'll just tell y'all about some progress I've made over the last week or things on my plate…
I've posted but not yet edited & published a Twilight Sparkle story. It's my (poor) attempt to try and make her less antagonistic, since she usually gets the short end of the stick in my universes. If anything, thinking back, I think Sunset comes off kind of bitchy in the current draft, though Twilight did wake her up so she's a bit cranky. I need to find a good cover picture for the story.
I still have one more chapter to edit in my longest story on this site before I start posting it. No idea how long that'll take once I get to it, but finally getting it out there in its entirety will probably be a huge weight off my back.
On Sunday, I drove back to my hometown to see my dad and get his help on a non-Pony short story I've been wanting to write for weeks. When I told him my idea over the phone the day before, he laughed for thirty seconds straight. Once I write it, I may post a link to it on this here blog.
As I've mentioned before, I've been teaching myself how to subtitle and have been using my "writing skills" to refashion a livestream of a comedian and four junior high girls into something wholly inappropriate -- drug references, lesbian undertones, British Humour (even though I am 'Murikan), mondegreens, and other insanity abound. I'm a strong believer in the Mel Brooks Rule of comedy -- you need to love or at least respect what you're skewering. That's certainly the case with me taking the piss out of Sakura Gakuin.
As Friendship Is Magic rapidly approaches its end, I see this site probably dying too …unless Knighty makes the promised leap to GenFic. I love this site's UI and functionality a billion times more than fanfiction.net, so I hope that does become a thing. While I do want to become at least a semi-professional writer -- do some stories or articles and get paid for them, even if it's not a lot -- I don't want to stop fanfic entirely. There are too many insane things using someone else's characters I want to write. For instance, the love affair between Miku Hatsune and Doctor Robotnik, which comes on the heels of his failed attempt to woo Arle Nadja.
Hey. Robotnik is the "World's Sexiest Fat Man".
Or an Urusei Yatsura fic where Shinobu is forced to admit to the class she had sex with Ataru before Lum came into the picture.
As this site slowly dies, I know that there are several ideas I have that will probably never see the light of day.
I DO intend to finish the Burritoverse at the very least, because I don't like leaving things hanging.
However, the Apple Bloom arc I've spent so much energy building up in my head will probably never happen. It's too late. I've waited too long and I'm too lazy. I may or may not write the story where Sci-Twi -- who I've already set up as a not-good-guy -- visits the human version of Orangeglow shortly before his death and lets him in on the True Secret of the EQG Universe …which my intended arc where Sunset and Apple Bloom finally interact would confirm.
Well, nothing is ever perfect, and the road to hell is paved with good intentions.
At least I still get out to the gym at least two nights a week.
And now I'm probably going to go back to sleep, as that seems to be what I'm best at doing.

Eyy, great to see ya pop up! Glad there’s more stuff coming, too.
Maybe I’m a bit too Pollyannaish, but I’m not really worried about the site dying. Yeah it’ll shrink some, probably. But I also keep seeing examples of other fandoms that’ve held on way longer than anyone predicted. While I want to be realistic, I feel like the proverbial knife cuts both ways there—Pony is likely to hold on in some form for a very long time.
At the same time though, it’s cool if you’re branching out. I should probably do the same, but I enjoy horse way too much.
I don't think this place'll die for at LEAST year after FiM ends, if anything there'll probably be a small resurgence in fans who get into it once it ends and that find this place. Either way, a leap will be a good one.
Looking forward to reading more Annie tbh, just getting a huge dose of executive dysfunction. Let me know what you think of my new chapters once you read them too please! <3 I always appreciate your feedback.

I should send you my notes for what I planned to wrap up Sunset's character arc and EQG in general. The only reason it hasn't moved beyond outline is because it's a murder mystery, and those are difficult because there's zero room for error. I thought up the storyline in 2015 but, thanks in part to fussing over details and also my mental state collapsing in 2016-7, I couldn't go much beyond that.
I still enjoy writing horsewords and fully intend to continue doing so after the show ends if I have the time. But I've never been tethered to one franchise.

Oh right. Even you haven't seen the final chapter yet, and you've read more of that story than anyone besides me. If I wasn't so OCD about word count and stuff, I could have published the whole thing months ago. Maybe I should make editing that my goal for this week.

I do feel sorry for the character slated for the chopping block. He/She/It doesn't deserve to die.
